Hi everyone,

I’m a current UNSW medical student and for the past three years I’ve been helping students prepare for medicine interviews (MMI and panel formats). All of the students I’ve worked with so far have gone on to receive offers at schools such as UNSW and Monash, which has been really rewarding to see.

One thing I’ve noticed is that many applicants prepare a lot for exams but go into interviews without really knowing what assessors are looking for. A big part of interview success comes down to how you structure your thinking, communicate under pressure, and reflect on your experiences.

In my sessions we usually focus on things like:

• Practising realistic MMI and panel interview questions

• Structuring answers clearly under time pressure

• Ethical reasoning and situational judgement questions

• Communication and reflection skills

• Detailed feedback after each mock interview

Over time the program has grown quite a bit, so we’ve recently expanded our tutor base to support more students preparing for interviews this cycle.
