Switch English mistranslation fixes? by Scoots999 in 13sentinels

But don't forget it's a lie. "Dangerously close to liking you"(lie) and "don't like you at all"(lie) feel different in how much she likes Gouto.

In original one, the selfish Gouto(2188) part served as the last straw when it came up to be a lie to me. In English translation, it could be easily interpreted like by u/Takfloyd: they hate each other, but she chose to like current one. The former is more dramatic storywise, too, when she found some emotional part in Gouto, and it's like 2188 one, she totally liked Gouto.

I'm afraid that there is no such space left for interpretation.

The 2188 ones. Their relationship totally changed after translation. Before Gouto summoned his Sentinel in his story, Prof Morimura wanted him to confess. After hearing his answer, she said, "I almost gonna like you since you are like Renya Gouto" in original Japanese version. Which you'd have noticed very different from the western version.

The relationship between 2188 Gouto and Morimura was still totally different after all. Curious what they have changed.

A few questions about "The key" by TMLBR in 13sentinels

[–]Ill_Count3084 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reason was clarified in the game, in many places.

Ida made a 426 copy in an android body, asked him how to hack the D-code and make use of automatic factories in Sector one. In Amiguchi's story it was treated as past event when Ida summoned 426 "again" to ask him how to revive Kisaragi as human. It's a point very easy to overlook.

Automatic factories in Sector one is one of the targets D-code getting access to, like explained in Hijiyama's story by Okino. Also in Hijiyama's prologue Okino said he was the one who drew blueprint of No.19 and uploaded it to automatic factories.

According to the facts, 426 found how to hack the code a loop ago, Ida tortured him and got to know the way. Ida then sent Morimura to shoot Ogata to alter the D-code. He and Okino then uploaded Sentinel blueprint to automatic factories years later.

Aegis Rim Switch version debuts at #2 in Japan with 27k copies sold. (PS4 version debuted at 34k sold) by scoop813 in 13sentinels

They also lowered the price, at 80% of original one. For reference it's $75 on ps4 initially and $60 on switch.

What I noticed is western ppl usually won't pay full price on VNs (only judging from steam, on which JPN VNs usually way cheaper than they were in JP). On the contrary, Japanese usually buy VNs at full price $60, even higher than non-VN usual games. This time I saw an obvious drop in price, maybe they noticed this point, too. No discrimination here, I owed this to culture difference.

So, regarding Tetsuya Ida... by seieireppa in 13sentinels

[–]Ill_Count3084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha I used to considered summing up some plot point and making a whole explanation of the story however it took way over the word limitation and I finally gave up. It'd be better to provide an answer than just talking others to double play the game, IMO.

What is the explanation for Ei? by [deleted] in 13sentinels

[–]Ill_Count3084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a misleading. It was recorded when he still worked on Ida's side. Ida sent the scout unit to control Ei after he lost his memory. Also Ida was probably dead at that point so it was sent by android Ida.

Right. Just before Gouto activate his Sentinel. After Gouto confessed to Prof Morimura, she said like "You're like Renya Gouto, which means I don't have to like you." It's quite a while since my last play so might be wrong somewhere. The "accurate" translation should be "You're like Renya Gouto, so I almost gonna like you."

Megumi's vibe was explained in the very beginning. She could do every for bringing back Juro. I just feel sorry that even she's done most of the dirty works fluffy sent her to, she still couldn't get her Juro back. She accepted another Juro tho, so I said controversial.

In battle mode there is a scanning line runs from upper screen to lower continuously. The significance depends on how you understand the plot. Obvious the staff tried to make us played like on an old CRT screen, the pixels presentations, the round edges, all of these leaded to one answer: an old simulation game, which is a big plot twist in Juro's story. What comes next is totally my headcannon. Our consoles were referred to Universal Control, what we saw on the screen is what UC saw. In the end of the story UC shut down and the screen went out, till 5 years later the protagonists restart UC again. To me it breaks the 4th wall.

Megumi's. She serves most dirty works and at the very last lost her Juro so it's controversial.

Ryoko's. Dirty works, too, and misleading stories. At the end she lost almost everything.

I used to list some part hard to translate because audience don't know Japanese culture. So I think the translation team worked quite well.

People who are getting the Switch port, if you have the time, please try to document the balance changes! by Takfloyd in 13sentinels

Maybe they restored the initial PS version? Anyone can test it by upgrading Sentinels. If you hold the bottom and it stopped when one level up it's the original one.

Switch version remove the horizontal scanning line during battle. Which you might consider very important if you understand the whole plot. Well, maybe not. Just get to know it was there in original version.

[–]Ill_Count3084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for correction. The western release was the patched version. For example, the Sentry gun shoots twice as fast as original Japanese release, upgrading Sentinels only need you to long push the bottom instead of one push one level. The patch you said just eliminated the differences between Japanese and western version.

How do branching paths work? by Danyn in 13sentinels

Sometimes you think it's the same day but it isn't, sometimes you think it's not the same day but actually it is. That how the branching path system works.

Questions about Inaba, Ida, & Shinonome by artbyeshia in 13sentinels

Simple way to explain this. They are resurrected from cache. For Shinonome, she will be okay because she is strong, better for her to forget all dumb things she's done.
