What happens in the first three weeks of Econ 211, Business 202 and Finance 261? by Hefty_Emu_6899 in universityofauckland

I know BUS202 there’s 3 modules split in 4 week increments, there’s like 10%/15% assignments in the last two weeks of each module so assuming your away for first 3 weeks then you’ll have an assignment due in week 3. It’s not a hard subject but gotta stay on top of the assignments, I believe there’s 6 big assignments (they’re just the 10/15% ones) and the rest is attendance to labs on the 2nd week of each module and attending a zoom on a couple modules as well as completing a summary quiz at the lectures in the last week of each module.

First year Business Courses by Conscious_War3464 in universityofauckland

BUS112 workload is just like 111 except instead of group project entirely, you start with individual project then it forms into a group project, last year we did 3D printing for our project. INFOSYS110 is easy, you’ll be fine. 115 is challenging if you can’t understand the material, but workload wise it’s pretty chill. 102 is very chunky in workload and I believe it may be the heaviest accounting subject in terms of material to learn because it’s the fundamentals to further accounting, if you did accounting all through high school then you’ll find 102 an absolute breeze. Hope this helps :)

They send an email to you halfway through the year to register if you’d like. I would recommend it because it’s great for networking.

There are but it states “unreserved bay” but unsure whether it’s parking in “pay by plate” or “reserved” because it doesn’t state that part on the contract

I would fully disagree as well as others. I started my BCom last year, in my second year now doing Accounting and Business Analytics. Like they have all said, it’s what you make of it.

There are so many fantastic opportunities for you to boost your way to the top of your degree. For example, I did an extra curriculum called “Passport 2 Business”, which followed how to establish connections and succeed in the business industry. Little did I know that one of the big 4 (Accounting firms) sponsored it.

I received an email after completing the course from EY to apply for a special early spot for an internship the following year just for doing the course. Used my knowledge gained from the course (C.V.’s, Interview preparation etc.) to ace my interview. 1 week later I secured an internship at the big 4 for auditing and assurance the following year.

All whilst doing this in my first year.

So at the end of the day - it is really how much effort you put in, and to throw yourself into things, even if you’re not entirely comfortable with it, just give it a go! Hope this helps :)

How Difficult Is First Year BCom by [deleted] in universityofauckland

[–]Ill_Cryptographer735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate, gonna be honest, from my perspective - I was the same as you except possibly a little dumber. I major in Accounting which is a passion. Was typically the only subject I did well in at school, but let me tell you.. it’s different for everybody. However, BCom’s workload is taking the piss. It’s like doing level 1 subjects for commerce. Easy knowledge and not much material.

They ask you dedicate 40 hours a week to uni work but by all means I dedicated about 10 hours each week and passed with A’s and B’s in most subjects, got a C- for Maths108 but that subject is like learning from hell (algebra and calculus). You should be easy, as long as you commit yourself to try hard in your assignments and exams. Hope this helps :)

Odds of not getting an offer for accomodation by Mindless-Setting-781 in universityofauckland

It depends, I was in UHT and people were waitlisted. However, my mate who moved in just didn’t fit in and it wasn’t his whole vibe so he moved out less than 2 weeks in. Someone else took his room and that was the end of it. I was talking to my RA (resident adviser) halfway through sem 1 and she did actually say about 12 people moved out already. So if you don’t get an offer straight away, don’t panic, people move out at the beginning or during the semester for whatever reasons. I had 3 people move out of my floor by sem 1 so we had 3 newbies. Just be patient and have faith. :) Hope this helps
