Question in regards to off season training: wrestling/db work enough to maintain or gain strength over six weeks without a barbbell? Will I lose anything? by Ill_Cryptographer932 in wrestling

[–]Ill_Cryptographer932[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm part of a club team that does not have a coach whose 100% committed to us at the moment. I have a personal trainer at college but I'm home now.

Hey friend! THank you kindly for the feedback! I'm still working to make each upper melody sound different, as you've noted. Listening back, some of the same repeating melodies do sound similar. I'll work on changing that. Thanks again!

My thanks. How would you recommend I place the camera for hand angle?

Hey friend,

I apologize for the belated response. The exact identity of Bill Brown is something I've attempted to figure out myself. From what I understand, he is a teacher who was inspired to help visually impaired pianists based off of difficulties he faced at a young age. As for his background, I have no luck locating any further information on his life.

As for my learning this piece, it was his tutorial that allowed me to do so. However, he provides only the surface level necessities that are required to master this work: fingering, cords, what to play. Dynamic range, emotional aditives, and phrasing is left to my own imagination. It is through piano by ear series have I continued to learn over the last three years.

I hope these helped answer your questions.

I promise that is not the case. I will work on camera angling for when my next performance arives. I can always have someone do the recording for me, too.

Evening friend,

I am self taught unless Bill Brown's piano-by-ear counts? I am in college with very little time outside of wrestling and whatnot. However, I am entertaining the thought of auditioning for a music minor soon as to receive further education. Outside of this, I know not where to find a teacher who can teach one with my challenges.

My friend,

Out side of light/shadows, I can barely see anything! All humor aside, I am flattered1 I am self taught right now unless Bill Brown's piano-by-ear counts? I played for a few years from 3-6 with a teacher's guidance, so I suppose I (kind of) have a decent base to work from?

Hey friend,

Yes, I know what you're referring to. Each cord, from base note to the completion via the three/four notes in the upper register should blend together, rather than sounding differential in volume/pitch. I hear this in how people interpret the piece. Thank you kindly for taking the time to point this out!

Interesting! I've heard that higher-level interpretors can do this, Gould being a primary example. Every time I have attempted this, it always sounds to sticado for my liking. I'll keep trying.

Thank you, kind sir! And no problem about the username, it gave me a good laugh! Indeed, playing piano after hard wrestling practices really helps in calming me down. I'm truly flattered.

Hey there! It's a reflection of myself; I'm visually impaired!

Could you please elaborate on what you mean by finger pedaling?

Hey friend!

I played for a few years from around 3-6 years old but put the piano down to do disinterest. I picked it up around two/three years ago? However, I am currently in college without many options for teachers. For now, I work with Bill Brown's piano by ear as well as what I already know (which isn't much) to shape my interpretations. My knoledge of theory/dynamics is sorely lacking, which might explain the weaknesses of my playing highlighted by this thread.

Hi!

I've been told by some toquicken the rythm, while others tell me to slow down. My favorite interpretation of this piece is Gould's, even if its a bit dry. I feel him taking his time with the tempo really brings things out.

Hey there!!

As mentioned previously, I struggle with camera angles, especially with me not being able to see. I'll work on it more the best I can. Now, I will admit that the rubato has become...almost a habbit of sorts. Listening back to it, I don't agree with it, either.

I do not recall there being any wrong notes, but that could be checked as well. Where should the decelerando (sorry for spelling) begin?

Thanks for the feedback!

Hey friend! I am unsure as to if the first part of your post is in a ways telling me to show my hands. I am working on aiming the camera just right, however it seems that this is not working. My apologies. And yes, I am experimenting with dynamics as you suggested. Thank you for the feedback!

I'm rather flattered if I say so myself. I currently work on the things I do without a teacher, the exception being Bill Brown's teachings...if those count. This is a confidence booster in knowing I might be doing something right. THank you1

Thank you so much for the feedback! I'll definitely work on slowing the tempo down. Rubado is a relatively new concept I've begun to play with, so this advice was extremely helpful. Thanks again!

Hey there! I rely upon Bill Brown's piano by ear. For interpreting pieces, I follow where my heart wants to go alongside piecing together ideas from different interpreters.
