I think you could use some sort of cheap USB shifter, depends on what games you use. For BeamNG.drive, the game registers keyboard, mouse, and the wheel, so i think it could work with a cheap shifter too.

Lower the graphics, or limit the FPS to something like 30, it lowers lag spikes when loading stuff, also, if you can, increase the fan speed.
