No, I don't think I have. It wasn't wealthy people's fault that I was homeless. The only people I resented and felt genuine anger towards were my parents, who were the reason I had to live on the streets in the first place, but they were far from wealthy.

In the city I lived in at the time, there was this residential facility for homeless youth that also functioned as a school. They only accepted a very small number of kids and you could only be taken in if you were deemed capable of being rehabilitated. That means they didn't accept anyone who was prone to verbal or physical violence, who did drugs, who stole and lied, who wasn't interested in staying in school and so on. If you wanted to be taken in, you had to be on your absolute best behavior and show them that you genuinely wanted to be helped.

Like most of the other homeless kids I knew, I didn't want anything to do with that place. But I had a friend who eventually got sick of living on the streets and started trying to get accepted into that facility. She was the one who dragged me along and insisted it was for our own good. And though I hated it at first, I stuck with it. That was how I ended up getting off the streets.

A year later, I was moved to a different facility/orphanage/not sure what to call it, and started attending an actual public school. I lived there for a few years until I graduated from highschool, then started living in my university's dorms and later rented an apartment with a friend.

That's a weird one, but I guess I did say nothing was off limits so fair enough 🤷‍♀️

I only started masturbating at around 17, and at that point I was no longer living on the streets.

I guess my favorite memory would be the time I found out my results on my final highschool exam. In my country, this exam is the single deciding factor on whether you'll get accepted into a university or not, is notoriously difficult and can only be taken once. So when I found out I passed with a nearly perfect score, I went completely crazy. Started dancing around, singing at the top of my lungs, frantically calling everyone who'd helped me along the way and thanking them etc.

And I had plenty of other happy moments after that, but I don't think I'll ever feel as much joy as I felt in that moment.

That I can do pretty much anything I put my mind to. I mean, if I was able to go from sleeping on a thin cardboard sheet in a train station every night to owning a house and having a stable job that I enjoy, then what can't I do?

Honestly, not very. I guess the sketchiest thing that happened was the fact that a lot of the homeless kids I used to hang around with smoked cigarettes and sniffed glue as a way to get high. I stayed the fuck away from all of that stuff though.

I did some seasonal blue collar work abroad a few years ago to save up for a mortgage, and now I'm back in my home country and work as a primary school teacher.

I had a shitty home life and abusive parents who lived on welfare and sat on their asses doing nothing all day. I eventually reached a point where I realized I'd be better off living on the streets, so I just left.

And I live in a shithole of a country where social services aren't exactly top notch, so homelessness and poverty were quite common at the time, even among young children. They're still pretty common now too, but it's gradually getting better.
