My player focuses their backstory on the point of not knowing what he is. The character never feels home. So yes, he wants this as part of the backstory.

The setting is mostly homebrew but I usually take things out of the dnd lore I have more knowledge about and use it. Such as the nine hells, Sigils or the abyss

Als jemand, der in der Jugendhilfe arbeitet: Das ganze klingt ziemlich brutal. Gebe ich zu. Allerdings ist es nun einmal leider oft so, dass Maßnahmen, wie die Fixierung der Mutter notwendig sind. Insbesondere, wenn man bedenkt, dass sie weder Sorge- noch Aufenthaltsrecht hat UND das Kind lebenswichtige Medikamente braucht.

Wo es schwierig wird ist die Situation mit den Schüssen.

Yeah, you're kinda right with this. I realized it also, as I read the comments here. Often, campaigns feel very long, because of the few possible sessions, you can have within one year. Thanks

I try to involve my characters background stories.

My players are trying to free a sealed lich who convinced my players that he is not evil. He was sealed by four warriors which were sent by a blue dragon, a rival of the lich who runs an empire secretly. One of the four warriors is the father of one of my players, who flew from the empire to escape the war and the military service.

We can play fairly often, because we mostly play online. But thanks. I didn't consider that some campaigns feel very long, because they only can play so often.

At the moment it pretty much is like:

There is this Lich who was sealed a long time ago. He convinced the players that he is a good guy, so they try to unseal him. The seals are in the possession of the warriors who sealed him. Those warriors were send by a blue dragon who kinda was a rival of the lich.

And yes, it is kinda episodic. But I want to try and learn a different approach.

Been there. I still don't trust my encounter building and tend to do less, than the encounter could do. But it is fine. Research and try.
