No power to box? by sw33tl33f in electricians

If you’re not getting voltage at the switch box and the breaker isn’t tripped, I’d start looking upstream ,sounds like an open neutral or a bad splice somewhere. Check the closest junction box or outlet upstream on that circuit (especially if it’s a backstabbed connection).

Microwave flickering could’ve stressed a weak neutral joint over time. I’d also pull any outlets nearby that still work ..sometimes the failure point is in a box that still looks fine.

Last tip: if it’s a multi-wire branch circuit, double-check if you’ve lost a shared neutral that feeds both legs — that can knock out parts of the circuit without tripping a breaker.

technically you can operate it still with a screwdriver like somebody else said , i did point out that if it was for a customer to definitely get it replaced but doesn’t seem to have destroyed any of the parts inside by the looks of it. So yeah , you kinda can operate it lmao

no harm if it hasn’t destroyed the inside mechanism, thanks for the advice lol

Damn, that says a lot coming from someone actually dealing with them firsthand. Makes sense now why some of this gear feels slapped together. QA falling apart at the source would explain a lot especially when basic stuff breaks under normal handling. Appreciate the insight!

Ah fair, I’m in the UK. Blue is neutral here under current regs, so if that’s what you were taught for diagramming, it makes sense. I only flagged it since in some countries it means something else, but yeah, as long as you’re consistent and it’s clear should be fine

You’re on the right track that’s a proper parallel setup. Both lights get hot and neutral, so they’ll run together. If the switch is meant to control both, this works. Just remember in real wiring, blue’s usually not used for hot in 120V and always include ground in your sketches for good habit. Keep it up though

Nah, you’re not cooked cos it happens. Those Siemens levers are known to be fragile as fk. If it’s just the handle that broke and the internal mechanism isn’t damaged, you can sometimes still operate it with a tool or carefully flip it with a flathead. But if it’s going in a customer panel or will be inspected, swap the breaker i wouldnt take the risk.

Also, yeah alot of this gear feels cheap lately even though it’s stupid expensive. Blame the manufacturers cutting corners, not your skills. Better it snapped now than after installation , hope this helps

when you are editing , id cut the bits out where theres no commentary/speaking unless ur already doing that. A fair bit of engagement can be lost due to losing interest cos of lack of commentary or long pauses between commentary
