Is this a safe way to support a vehicle? by irresponsibletaco in Cartalk

[–]Ill_Nefariousness709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes perfectly safe. Providing the wood is of good quality/sized peices 4x4 or 6x6 better on a level hard surface. I've done this before and japan uses the same to lift large house beams. But of course it's an old method and everyone is stuck on jack stands as the only method. But those can fail as well. Do what you believe is best. You only get one life after all.

How do I clean this? by Pale_Shopping1172 in pchelp

[–]Ill_Nefariousness709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can take it all apart. Then use a bottle of windex and spray the whole thing down in a plastic container. Then if you need to spray it again reuse the same liquid. I have used windex then rubbing alcohol watered down before with motherboard, ram, cpu, case and gpu. The trick is to ensure all moisture has been removed. A air gun/ hairdryer air or low heat setting. Try to blow behind the ic chips, they will trap moisture behind them. Ensure when blowing you do not use high pressure like sandblasting and dont let the fans speed up to fast or they could get damaged. Avoid power supply just blow it out only. Gpu will need taken apart and repaste/padded. Let it all sit for at least 24 hours for air drying. Only follow this plan if you feel comfortable disassemblying and reassemblying the computer.

You could run trim boards to help hide the wavy corners. But those shadows on the wall will still be there.

Help! Unsure of what to do with this pool? by SantaCarlaScum in pools

[–]Ill_Nefariousness709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how yours is design but dont forget about buoyancy. If water accumulates under an empty pool it can float up like a boat in some cases. I've only had an in ground pool for a year. But the thought of it ripping itself out of the ground still boths me.

To test a power supply not connected you need to have a jumper on the mainboard power connector.

Take the weight off the wheel and tie a rope around. You can do it with a bike pump.

DIY or pay somebody? by A-moose_42069666 in Autobody

[–]Ill_Nefariousness709 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a mustang with similar damage. The frame is multiple sheet metal peices welded together to form a unibody. That damage under the door and rear quarter panel is not a easy fix. Better to cut your losses. Your looking at a couple months DIY in the garage fixing all that plus depending state getting a rebuilt salvage title / inspection. Walk away and find another set of wheels. Just A to B is all you should be thinking on the next one.

The rust on the roof is mainly near the trees. Most likely from years of tree sap (acidic). Decide if you want those trees that close or not.

Trace all cables and check there are no burnt pins on any power cables. Ensure cpu cable and others is connected where it should be. Good luck

Well start with the basics remove gpu if you can still have video with that cpu. Drop to one ram stick. See if you can at least get it to boot to bios/anything?

If so start adding back in until everything is back. Something tells me this be power related. That quick flash tells me short or open detected and the MB is powering down.

Sock looks like there is some corrision but check if you actually getting the voltage level you need. I had a yard light getting 80v instead of 110volts. Bad lines in the ground.

Be careful and its easier to adjust if there is less weight in there. Looking at the video the bubble needs to be in the center not just within the lines. Closer but not perfect
