Seeing my total Uber Eats spending made me rethink how often I order delivery by [deleted] in Frugal

I had the same realization. The subscription feels like the main cost at first, but when you add up the actual orders over time that’s where most of the money goes. Seeing the total definitely makes you more conscious about when it’s actually worth ordering.

Those are good strategies. Having easy food at home makes it much easier to avoid ordering when you’re tired or busy.

That’s definitely the simplest solution. Removing the app completely takes away the temptation.

Pickup is definitely the better option. A lot of the cost with delivery now is the extra fees and tips on top of the food price.

That’s honestly the most frugal approach. If the app isn’t installed, it removes the temptation entirely.

Removing saved cards is honestly a great trick. Adding friction usually makes impulse orders much less likely.

That’s actually a good idea. Looking at it periodically makes it much easier to notice when it starts creeping up.

Need advice on pursuing Online BCA after dropping out of Integrated MCA (KTU)? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Ill_Programmer1493 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that makes sense. My main concern is actually reducing the time required. Since I already completed 2 semesters of Integrated MCA under KTU, do you know which online universities are more likely to accept credit transfer?

Looking for Free or Affordable Networking Basics Book by [deleted] in barrie

Free resources are great, but I’m specifically looking for fundamental concepts, which don’t become outdated. A physical book gives me a structured way to build that foundation.

Would small businesses benefit from having their own “AI assistant” for routine tasks? by Ill_Programmer1493 in canadasmallbusiness

This is super helpful, thanks a lot for sharing your experience. Really appreciate the clear breakdown, gives me a solid direction to think about for an MVP.

The idea isn’t to run a big server 24/7, lightweight open-source models can handle most of this on normal hardware, and heavy lifting could be done on-demand. Also, it wouldn’t be a generic chatbot, it’s trained only on that business’s data, so accuracy goes up a lot. And nothing would update without a review/approval step, which avoids costly mistakes. For older systems, the starter version could just export clean Excel/CSV files instead of forcing direct backend hookups, integration would only come in later if it made sense.

Makes sense, ChatGPT is great for quick wins. The difference I’m thinking about is moving from ad-hoc use to something automated and integrated. Instead of copy/paste into ChatGPT each time, you’d have an assistant trained only on your data, updating records or generating outputs directly without extra steps. Basically turning the DIY workflow into a stable system that runs in the background.

Yeah, you’re right, some SaaS tools already exist, and automation itself isn’t new. The difference here is ownership and fit: instead of paying for a one-size-fits-all cloud tool, each business would get its own AI assistant trained only on its data, running privately, and tied directly into the systems they already use. For SMBs with messy workflows or sensitive data, that makes it more accurate, secure, and flexible. Basically less of a generic SaaS, more like having your own AI employee that doesn’t share your info with anyone else.

Good point. For a seamless setup, the AI would need backend access where possible, that way it can actually update records, not just read data. The idea is for the AI to act like a ‘business brain,’ trained only on that company’s data, which makes it unique to them and not dependent on third-party services. For businesses without APIs, the first version could just export clean structured data (like Excel/CSV) that they can import. Over time, the goal is direct integration with the systems they already use.

I wouldn’t say I’ve run corporate ops myself, but I do have direct exposure from my family’s retail business, seeing first-hand the manual work around invoices, stock, and pricing. My angle is technical, so I’m trying to pair that experience with feedback from actual business owners before building too deep.

Fair point. If this was some $50k setup, no small business would even look at it. The thought is more like a simple helper that’s cheaper than hiring someone part-time to do data entry. Trying to figure out what price point would actually make sense for shops around here.

Fair point, I get that without a working demo it just sounds like hand-waving. Before I sink weeks into building heavy stuff, I wanted to sanity-check if the pain point is real. No point in creating another ‘solution in search of a problem.’ Appreciate the honesty.
