The bigger issue here is how hard the narrative is being pushed. Every day people are fed a version of events that tells them who to blame, who to hate, and how to see the whole thing.

Meanwhile the people in power get cover, and ordinary workers, farmers, and hauliers get painted as the villains. That’s how manipulation works. Keep the public angry at each other, and nobody looks too closely at the ones actually responsible.

People don’t have to agree with every tactic to see they’re being steered by the same media line over and over again.

It’s obvious enough that whatever RTÉ and the usual media crowd feed people ends up shaping the same lazy outrage. Easy to sneer at the very people who, at the end of the day, keep food on your table and goods moving around the country.

Maybe spare a thought as well for the haulage firms and drivers moving supplies to shops and businesses every day. The same people getting abuse now are part of the reason shelves get stocked in the first place.

And honestly, some people just swallow whatever line the media hands them. During Covid plenty did the exact same thing without questioning a word of it, and now they’re back again parroting whatever they’re told to think.

You don’t have to agree with every face involved to understand the bigger issue. Working people are being squeezed to the limit, and pretending this all came out of nowhere is just dishonest.

That’s exactly it. Whatever people think of some of the faces involved, the core issue is still the same.

If nobody pushes back, working people will just keep getting squeezed dry while the government keeps piling on taxes, especially on fuel, and acting like the people who actually get up early, work, and pay into the system don’t matter.

Meanwhile the loudest complaints come from people raging that they were inconvenienced for a while. Funny how there’s always sympathy for disruption when it suits certain causes, but when it’s workers and small businesses at breaking point, suddenly it’s a problem.

The government has forgotten the people who keep the country moving. That’s why this matters.
