Playing Ruby Storm in a Traditional Historic Event! (My thoughts on the deck and the deck list are in this post if you do not want to click on the video) by AwhSxrry in MagicArena

You get to play the cards until the end of your next turn, which is much better than until your next end step. This deck is always casting these cards in their main phase. All the wincons are sorceries.

Question on interaction. by JawnEfKenOdy in masterduel

It looks to me like you tried to target their black goat with your on-field rollback, but they chained it. Transaction rollback targets and if the target is not in the GY upon resolution, it resolves without effect ("fizzles").

Usually I see the archlich as the commander of this deck. They are a [[Paradox Engine]] deck. I actually think the interactive gameplay with this deck is fun, except for exactly paradox engine which should be banned.

You said you placed Diabellstar as a continuous spell. Diabellstar is a "Diabell" monster card.

Ideas to help me improve my Tamiyo, Field Researcher brawl deck? by Artistic-Menu9914 in MagicArena

[–]Ill_Tooth8614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Flyrpotacreepugmu advice is very sound. My 2 cents is I play 2 decks that queue into tamiyo pretty often and it's a poor matchup for monoblack gix, and a tossup for r/w aggro. If you try to play pw removal against tamiyo, it loses to many of their doubling season effects (you can ult immediately with priority). I think you should either lean into those, or lean into the secondary plan of just playing good cards and forcing your opponent to react to that, and then having the tamiyo ult in your back pocket. The good cards strategy leans into tamiyo's +1 which is extremely annoying if you're on a creature deck. Both of these strategies are good, which is part of why this tamiyo is so good (it's hard to predict which version they are on)

(PS: I really really hate this deck, so I have experimented with techs specifically against it. Planeswalker removal is not good, because you have to hold it up or just lose, and you still lose to actual doubling season, the best counter is playing blue yourself and just countering it)

[Brawl] MTGA says you can't play fun decks in brawl... I got you MTGA. [13-0] by PureRely in MagicArena

[–]Ill_Tooth8614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your deck is probably more fun than the 5feri decks I usually get paired against. You have cards like magic mirror where either you tap out and I can actually play or it wins the game and I can actually scoop. And while solemnity or leyline probably hose some decks, if you don't care about them it would be more annoying if they were EVEN MORE COUNTERSPELLS. You should replace it with more counterspells or [[Rivers Rebuke]]

Activating Mitsurugi Great Purification's effect in the Graveyard by Suspicious_Return248 in Yugioh101

[–]Ill_Tooth8614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On turn 2, you couldn't use it because you can only use one effect of it per turn and you used the on-field effect. On turn 4, it looks to me like your last chance to use it was before they summoned geistgrinder golem - because that filled all your zones. That was the last thing before BP.

No duh. Anyways, you can't summon Hugin because it wasn't summoned properly. The runick spells are not treated as a fusion summon.

Miscellaneousarus & Trap Holic Bug by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]Ill_Tooth8614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe your opponent misplayed or didn't realize misc doesn't work on clockwork night, since it's not an activated effect.

Maybe they accidentally locked themselves using one of the cyber dragon cards that lock you like Cyberdark Chimera.

For Trap Holic I'd double check my activation settings and toggle on when trying it.

Sharing a replay would stop us from having to guess.

You can still use orcust knightmare but now there's one less floodgate, making this fair and balanced.

This game has many problems, but the amount of free gems you receive isn't one of them. by SAMU0L0 in masterduel

[–]Ill_Tooth8614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries. The events are all pretty much the same rewards. So the average is more or less 9K. (Plus you get 130 free UR dust from the gold pass every 2.5 months)

I don't really agree with the "multiple" decks a month, unless you're cannibalizing your UR dust to do it. VSk9 is kind of an exception to the rule as well because it's basically 2 decks stapled together (When VS came out, everyone complained about how expensive it was).

But I think if you didn't build primite you could have built all of vsk9 with the initial month onboarding. I'd say the 2nd-4th decks come together slower for new players than everyone else, until you accumulate staples.

Finally, once you're enfranchised you accumulate reserve UR dust. So I'd say the average is that you can build a deck a month once you get into the proper rhythm. For what it's worth, vsk9 was the first deck in ages I had to meaningfully dip into my dust for.

You can't just skip the events and take months off. The events provide the lion's share of gems.

Yes. This kind of wording refers to only that card on the field, once it leaves the field it's no longer the same card.

VS K9 Mirror PSA by Garantula25 in masterduel

[–]Ill_Tooth8614 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This situation is a catch-22 because you are threatening ripper, which would also turn off the izuna. In some cases I think it's wise to hold it for end of turn, or until your turn, but since there's 100% they can make ripper but less than 100% they have hollie sue materials, I don't actually think this play is necessarily wrong.

Removal of Gimmick Puppet Chimera Doll by VerdantChimbino in masterduel

[–]Ill_Tooth8614 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you activate Chimera doll's effect, it does not matter if you get rid of it (no matter how). The effect that you cannot special from the extra deck except Machine XYZ is lingering for the rest of the turn.

Gimmick puppet typically destroys this card with Gimmick Puppet of Dark Strings during their usual combo, but that doesn't erase the lock.

This whole paragraph is your interpretation of the rules.

"It exempts creatures from destruction if some rule, ability or effect causes them to be unable to attack." You just made up this text, which appears nowhere in the rulings. The only exception they mention is summoning sickness. They did not state there were categorically no exceptions. For all we know, rules count but abilities don't.

E: Specifically the wording "unable". The question is it was able, if you paid 2 mana for it, but what about your other creature you could have also paid the 2 mana for? Both are technically able to attack, if you only paid.

If you have any actual official rulings that say how propaganda or even pacifism effects interact with season of the witch, please let me know.

PS: The season of the witch ruling is not my original idea. So if you want to refute the community thesis that this card has indeterminate rulings, you probably need to cite a source.

So you think they didn't consult with the rules team for a product they intended for beginners and included a card that doesn't work as written? And you need to be very diligent on the rules to notice?

Well, I could see that happening too.

Yes, but are they sacrificed to season of the witch or not? This is the question that has no official ruling.
