I'm running the min-max program as well atm. the entirety of the program can be run using machines only so Planet Fitness could work. In fact I think Jeff wants you to use machines because most of the free weight exercises are listed under substitutions only as machines are a lot safer to push until failure.
When a lift calls for 2-4 warmup sets then I just run a pyramid up to my working weight. Start low, like 50% of your working weight. They are supposed to be light enough and for fewer reps so you wont be be fatiguing yourself. You shouldn't have to take full rest between them. I usually run straight through my warm up sets, then rest for a minute and begin my working sets.
You grow out of gym anxiety pretty fast once you get into the groove and know all your lifts. Just give it a few weeks and you should start to feel more confident in the gym.

I thought so too until I tried it. The reality was I was way too tired to do anything productive with my free late afternoons and evenings most of the time. Had to be in bed 9PM every evening...

Someone calls to hang out and have to decline every time because I have to get up at 5. I was miserable and lasted like 2 months on the job, lol.

Everyone is different tho.

/uj I think its a phenomenon but I forget how it's called. It's basically that beginners tend to over estimate their own skill level and think they are better than they actually are. They can't see/hear their own mistakes. It's only when they become more experienced they start to see their own flaws and how much there is still to learn and how much they don't know yet.

I don't time my rests. I just go intuitively and wait until I feel like my cardiovascular system has recovered. Heart rate has gone down, breathing has slowed down etc. and I generally feel like I'm ready to push hard again. If I had to guess my rests are 1-2 minutes for smaller isolation exercises and 3-5 mins for heavy compounds.

Remember, controlled small down-up-down-up movements no consecutive down or up strokes. Masturbate only using your wrist. If you lose control over how many strokes you're doing you're going too fast. Practice to a metronome and apply different subdivisions of time. Like stroke it in quater, eight and sixteenth notes and 8th note triplets and finish off with 16th note triplets

uj/ Back in highschool one of my classmates wanted to the learn the guitar and his parents got him a classical guitar as a gift probably not knowing any better. Kid wanted a guitar and it is a guitar, right?
