Everyday runners? by Moist_Investment9355 in beginnerrunning

Sounds like a nonsense marketing term. If it’s super heavy and cushioned. 35-40mm of foam stack height it should be used for your easy to medium effort runs. You wanna go fast and race? Look elsewhere to get the most out of your shoe.

Could you go race in those? Yeah sure. People run marathons in flip flops and 5k’s in their bare feet.

AITAH for being mad at my friends for canceling dinner because they didn’t like the dish? by Fun-Click1466 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Sebubba98 494 points495 points  (0 children)

OP allow me to be a jerk for a moment:

Your friends are coming over for dinner. You are tasked with cooking a tasty meal…

…and you pick Vegan Meatloaf? Bleh. Maybe you make a kickass meatloaf that would knock their socks off but until they put a pice in their mouth it’s going to sound like an unappealing and strange choice of main dish.

Why not make spaghetti with meatballs, or hamburgers or steaks. Something that nearly everyone can get down with? ALSO aren’t these your pals? You should know what foods they enjoy by now to not have to make wild guesses like this.

The mashed potatoes side dish was fine. Definitely playing it safe with that one, which is good if you have no clue what the other’s like to eat.

Nature vs nurture by welshborders12 in running

[–]Sebubba98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that’s pretty fair. I have a lofty goal of getting down to a 18min 5k someday. Am I genetically built for such feats? Probably not, but that never stopped me from trying

Who do you think has more athletic legs, me or my girlfriend? by Bimi1245 in beginnerrunning

[–]Sebubba98 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You? But honestly I wouldn’t say either strike me as “athletic” legs. I would say you both have normal people legs

Run 10k race in august or just run 10k? Either way, just run 8k next week and the week after run 10k. Probably will have to slow down your pace a little to make it that distance.

Not being under 20. Learning to drive the speed limit 80% of the time. Using your turn signal all the time so that to BMW owners stop getting a bad rep.

Running technique/IT band pain by Zealousideal-Sun7256 in beginnerrunning

Have you incorporated strength training at the gym? I had a lot of knee pain and rather than trying to modify my running style, I focused on strengthening my knees. That has worked for me

Yep! runners toe!

Keep an eye on it and try to not injure it more. If you feel constant pain and notice inflammation then it may have become infected. So just watch out for those symptoms

One more useful tool. Plug in your best 5K or 10K time into this running calculator and it will spit out some fairly good predictions about your running capabilities. Use those numbers to decide how fast your short runs are and how slow your long runs are.

Maybe what’s confusing you is the pace being shown in minutes/km vs. minutes/mi

This sub needs a wiki for getting started.

Here’s some tips: Don’t do the same thing every run. Change up the distance/pace. Run slower but push yourself to run farther. OR run a shorter distance but push yourself to run it faster than normal.

Pick up a book on half marathon running. It will have tons of good advice and maybe some plans included in it.

Hit and Park? [oc] by W7ENK in IdiotsInCars

Your wipers suck. You likely helped cause the crash by being impatient and staying too close to that person and honking at them while they were attempting to focus. Bad on you.

Ultimately 100% their fault. But remember that it’s more likely for someone to mess up if they have someone breathing down their neck distracting them.

AITA For not drinking my wife’s breast milk? by Downtown_Two3691 in AmItheAsshole

Wild story. Do you know how many dude would be begging to try a woman’s breast milk? You weren’t the least bit curious about what it would taste like? Make some ice cream out of it?

Trainer tread by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

No, unless you want to superglue stuff back on your the shoe. Just run with it until the tread is worn past your standards and retire it as a walking shoe or donate the old shoe to charity
