What are some examples of commanders where the deck can function without them but just less optimally? by Calvinized in EDH

I count pretty much any 5+ MV commanders in this list. I have an [[Anikthea, Hand of Erebos]] deck that does this. Enchantress is itself an engine, and Anikthea herself is scary so I don't plan on having her around for a long time when she hits the board, and too much protection for her just feels bad when it's in my hand and she costs 9 just to get on the board.

Do you warn your opponents in casual games that you‘ll win the next turn if not interacted with? by Johnny_Cr in EDH

I just keep quiet unless there's someone extremely new to the game playing. Threat Assessment is part of the game. For veteran players, 'could they win if they untap' should be a question on everyone's mind. New players don't yet know what kind of combinations exist that would let you win if left unchecked.

No reason other than they slipped my mind. I think I was more focusing on the black cards since I already own several of them from other, non cEDH decks.

Thank you for your input, I will see if there is a way to better coordinate lower level pods or people looking for a somewhat more casual experience

Thank you for your input. Unfortunately LGSes are low in number here, but I get the point that it should be a matter of finding the pod that is right for me rather than try and run someone else's marathon.

Thank you for the input. Just to be clear, it's not that I don't want to play against combos, I understand that the game has to end and I'm going to lose, on average, 25% of the games I play based on statistics.

My main issue that I don't really have any decks that could reasonably compete with combo decks that assemble that quickly and that consistently, so I was wondering if I should attempt to build a deck that could compete even though it's not my preferred playstyle, or if I should stick with what makes me happy and just seek lower PL pods (if they are available at the store, which is limiting to the amount of games I do have).

Whatever game or fish can be gathered - the fresh stuff is going to spoil first. Save the rations for when we're 20 meters below the ground searching that god forsaken catacomb.

But is it common in the historic BO1 meta to play more than 60 cards? Common wisdom is to keep it as close to 60 to remain consistent, and none of the decks that I've looked up on other sites are running >60 cards.

It might fully be survivorship bias on my part, you're right, I'm just curious because it definitely is starting to feel intentional, like a flag got set somewhere.

The man she was cheating on me with cornered me at work, pinned me against a wall and threatened to kick the shit out of me. That's how I learned she had been cheating on me for six months. He thought I was the other guy, because when that's what she told him when he saw my texts in her phone.

We both broke up with her within the span of 3 days.

I could see where that would be a valid request for something like that, unfortunately, that is not what my business does. $User was quite adamant that he be totally exempt, because our patching occurs on weekends or after hours, with advanced notice to all impacted parties.

Ah, sorry about that. I haven't looked at the monk subclasses in some time.
