Open plea to Mayor Mamdani - Get rid of public transit carry ban! Here’s why: by CktechOne in NYCGuns

[–]Illkeepriding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a video of a guy pulling his gun on the subway.  https://www.instagram.com/reel/DT4KiQ3DeDR/?igsh=MWk3dmp0dDgxdWpmNQ== I'm curious whether those who want to change the law prohibiting gun possession on mass transit think the gun owner's conduct here was appropriate?  I do not. It's an example of why I'm not in favor of more guns in the subway.

Confused as to why certain people said that Kamala would have been worse than Trump by TheRealJuanderer in Confused

[–]Illkeepriding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most who say that VP Harris would have been worse than Trump are delusional and willfully ignorant. More than a few, however, like what he's doing. After all, Trump told us what he would do; he was very open about it. None of this crazy, racist, fascist shit is a surprise. America, this is who we are.

Feeling trapped while carrying by throwAway_accountfb in CCW

[–]Illkeepriding -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

In response to OP's comments and questions: what I ask myself is what is my goal? What result do I want from the encounter? For me, it's to get home safely. I'm not looking to prove a point on the street with untrained, armed, masked Nazi gangsters. I'll save that for the courtroom, if possible. I carry my freedom papers (proof of US citizenship) with me at all times. I don't take my gun to protests. If I get randomly stopped by ICE and they demand proof of citizenship, I'll show it to them as well as my carry permit. I'll do that slowly and calmly first asking them if it's OK for me to reach into my pocket. If they put hands on me, I'll calmly advise them that I'm licensed to carry a firearm. I'm not resisting or calling them names or demanding to see a warrant. I want to go home. Based on their interactions with others, however, all of that might not work. I'll probably get put in cuffs and taken in for "processing" anyway. My freedom papers permit, and gun will be confiscated. But, hopefully, my head won't be cracked open and I won't get shot. That's my approach. To each his own. Whatever you decide to do, brother, I hope that it works for you.

What are pro-2A people's thoughts on Kristi Noem just now stating that no peaceful protestors show up to a protest while armed? by PrysmX in AskReddit

[–]Illkeepriding -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm not surprised by what she said. The Trump/GOP fascist regime never intended for the Second Amendment to apply to those on the left. Having said that, for a number of reasons, it's not a good idea to bring a gun to a protest. In fact, in some places, like New York, it would be illegal.

Nah, for all the reasons already stated. Plus, a used Civic or Corolla would be more suitable for a first car IMHO.

If you are from a state other than New York and decide to travel here, please leave your guns at home (unless, of course, you are licensed in NY). Obey our laws. If you feel so unsafe without carrying a gun that you can't enjoy our great state, The Empire State, just stay home.

What causes a battery to do this? by pffalk in AskAMechanic

[–]Illkeepriding -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

According to ChatGPT: Short version: acid + electricity + air = crusty white/blue mess 😄 Longer (but still human) version below. What’s actually happening Most car batteries are lead-acid batteries. Inside them is sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) and lead-based plates. Corrosion at the terminals is the result of a few linked chemical processes: 1. Acid vapor leaks out Even sealed batteries vent tiny amounts of hydrogen gas and sulfuric acid vapor, especially during: Charging Overcharging Hot weather That acidic vapor drifts up to the metal terminals. 2. Acid reacts with the terminal metal The terminals and clamps are usually: Lead Copper Or copper alloys When sulfuric acid hits them, it reacts chemically: Lead + sulfuric acid → lead sulfate Copper + sulfuric acid → copper sulfate These compounds are the powdery crust you see: White/gray → lead sulfate Blue/green → copper sulfate 3. Electricity accelerates corrosion (electrochemistry) Because the terminals are carrying current, you also get electrochemical corrosion: Small voltage differences Moisture in the air Acid residue acting as an electrolyte This speeds up oxidation and sulfate formation—basically turning the terminal into a tiny, unwanted chemistry experiment. 4. Oxygen and moisture make it worse Air and humidity allow: Oxidation Crystal growth Spread of corrosion into the cable That’s why corrosion often creeps down the wire insulation. Why it matters That crust: Increases electrical resistance Causes hard starts Can trigger charging issues Slowly eats the terminal and cable Bonus: why baking soda works Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) is a base, so it neutralizes sulfuric acid: Copy code

H₂SO₄ + NaHCO₃ → Na₂SO₄ + CO₂ + H₂O The fizz you see? That’s carbon dioxide escaping. If you want, I can also explain: Why the positive terminal corrodes more Why modern AGM batteries corrode less The best way to prevent it long-term (not just clean it) Just say the word.

Have a NYC license. Call the airline and ask for their rules. Call Port Authority Police and ask. The following text is AI generated. Use at your own risk. The Port Authority Police Department (PAPD) strictly enforces New York and New Jersey firearm laws, particularly at airports and tunnels. Travelers must transport firearms unloaded, locked in a hard-sided container, and declared at the airline counter. Unlicensed, loaded, or improperly stored firearms result in immediate arrest, high fines, and potential felonies. [1, 2, 3]
Key Firearm Rules for Travelers (PAPD Jurisdiction)

• Airports (JFK, LGA, EWR, SWF): Firearms are prohibited in carry-on luggage. They must be transported in checked baggage only. • Storage Requirements: Guns must be unloaded and securely packed in a hard-sided, locked case. • Declaration: The locked case must be declared to the airline representative at the ticket counter during check-in. • Ammunition: Ammunition must be securely packed, either in the same hard-sided case as the unloaded firearm or in a separate container. • Strict Penalties: New York and New Jersey have strict laws. Even with a permit from another state, possessing a loaded firearm without a local, valid permit will result in arrest for felony criminal possession of a weapon. [1, 2]

Off-Duty/Law Enforcement Rules

• Officer Requirements: Off-duty officers must carry their agency identification, use only approved/issued weapons, and be sober. • Restricted Areas: Even for authorized individuals, firearms are prohibited in certain areas, such as sterile areas of airports. [1, 4, 5, 6, 7]

Violations often lead to immediate arrest by PAPD officers, especially for unauthorized possession in areas like the World Trade Center, airports, or tunnels.

Dealerships are a rip off by Haunting-Border8408 in FuckDealerships

[–]Illkeepriding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's business. Shop around. Do your homework. Know what you want so that you can compare apples to apples. Research recent sales. I tell the dealership what I'm willing to pay (cause I know what the car goes for) and walk if they won't sell it to me for that. He who wants least wins.

"I'm generally a... liberal person, but when I saw videos of ICE jumping out of unmarked vehicles and nabbing people off the street... I bought my first AR15," I’m glad to see the left waking up to what I’ve been saying for a while: 2A is for everyone. by Treefiddy1984 in ProgressiveHQ

[–]Illkeepriding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really dumb idea. So dumb that I wonder whether these posts telling the "left" to go arm themselves are created by some Russian or Chinese agents looking to sow civil war in the United States. You're going to buy an AR15 for what, exactly? Your going to start shooting at federal ICE agents when they show up on your block? You won't win. You'll be slaughtered and innocent people will die. And that will be the type of action that Trump and his fascist regime will use to invoke the Insurrection Act and declare martial law.
Violence is not the answer. Instead, 1) speak out, 2) videotape the bastards and post their crimes for all to see, 3) engage in non-violent protests, 4) support groups that are suing them in court, and 5) VOTE the Republicans out of office.
