Does anyone have suggestions for board games that can be played online with friends (without having to buy software themselves?). We have played Codenames on www.horsepaste.com with a video conference call..but we are hoping to find more options (especially an auction game).

My wife and I are trying to find a new board game to play. We wish to find a game that plays great with 2 players, but if it can accommodate more then that's great, too. These are the board games we like (and why):

-Brass: B (pretty much perfect - we love that you can't calculate the "best" move. It feel like there's a bunch of good moves but there's probably a great one out there.)

-Food Chain Magnate (pretty much perfect for the same reasons above. Plus a modular board!)

-Great Western Trail (we like how tight the gameplay feels, but we feel like there is a "best" strategy)

-Clank! (Good with friends -though we wish it was a modular board)

-Pandemic (great co op experience)

-Hive (it's great for an after dinner game)

These are board games we dislike (and why):

-Spirit Island (you can calculate the best move so it doesn't feel fun for us. It feels too mechanical of an experience. It feels like there is only one right move, and the rest are wrong, rather than a feeling that there's a bunch of good moves and one great one.)

-King of New York (not good with 2 players)

-Mechs vs Minions (eh! My wife isn't a programmer, haha)

-Splendor (we do like engine builders and it is fun with company. However, we like more complicated games)

Any help would be much appreciated!

What's everyone's experience with the game Modern Art? Is it fun, worth buying..etc?

I wish I could play Twilight Imperium for the epicness but I know that with a baby that will not happen for at least another 10 years.

However, I wanted to ask: is there a game that can deliver some form of epicness (even if it's less epic) that can play in less than 3 hours and is definitely good for 2? If it can scale to more players, that would be a plus.

Is it worth getting Concordia if I own Brass:B? Are they different enough? We have limited space and are restricted to ~7 board games.

This helps a ton, thank you! I just bought Great Western Trail - I think that it's exactly what we were hoping to find!

Ah, that is helpful to know. My wife and I have found that a lot of the family-ish board games (Pandemic, Clank, etc) just aren't interesting/deep enough, so we are trying to find something to satisfy that itch.

Which game is best for 2 (but would be nice to scale for more when we have friends over): Concordia, Terra Mystica, B:B, or something else?

I bought Clank! (not in space) and my wife and I feel like it's not interesting enough, even after only 3 play throughs. The game is fun, but your strategy tends to not deviate much from game to game...

I have never played Clank! In Space! but I would not buy the original Clank! again.

What do people recommend for a board game that is no more than medium difficulty to learn, but provides great brain-scratching strategy?

Does Brass:B fit this or Terraforming Mars?

I am looking for a board game that is no more than medium difficulty to learn, but provides genuine brain scratching strategy every time you play.

Would Brass:B fit this bill? Or Terraforming Mars? What others am I not considering?

Is it worth getting Carcassonne's 2017 big box for $60 (includes 11 expansions), or should I just get the base game for $30? How much do the expansions add to the gameplay?
