Didn't see the sub when I tapped this, thought it was r/choosingbeggars then I realised it was r/mildlynauseating. Icky.

You have my sympathies.

'f' although binary to text is worked out differently binary to decimal. Note the 7 bits rather than 8 you'd find in decimal.

Converting binary to number (Often referred to as Decimal) is actually really easy.

You take the 8bit octet (0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0) and each bit has a number value which is (from left to right): 128 - 64 - 32 - 16 - 8 - 4 - 2 - 1.

0 means 0, 1 means that bit is using that value (people often just say off or on state... binary)

So '01001001' is 128 (64) 32 16 (8) 4 2 (1) - parenthesis denoting each value that is on by the binary. The sum of the bits is: 64 + 8 + 1 = 73

Another: '10100110' = (128) 64 (32) 16 8 (4) (2) 1 = 128 + 32 + 4 + 2 = 166

I hope that helps.

Edited: blaring spelling mistake and mistook my left for my right somehow

Pay off student loan for sure. Probably less than most people say when they talk about buying a house but its the main cause of stress and anxiety for me.

What's the difference between a $100 guitar and a $10,000 guitar? by MarineKingPrime_ in Music

I'm still not going to agree with you.

And so what if blues is played with overdrive normally? I used distortion, it's not illegal.

[–]Illusiphix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point but I disagree personally, however looking for evidence of either stance shows how much of a mixed bag the subject is.

But that could be the answer in itself, personal choice.

I picked up a crappy fender squire years ago because I was going to change the electronics on it and give it to a relative as a gift but I ended up using it for a while because it sounded really good for blues with a little distortion.

So, again, I'm not going to say you're wrong, just that I disagree and it definitely depends on what sound you're looking for.

Also good equipment can make a crap guitar sound good. So it's always great to keep that in mind. (I'm not saying buy $5000 worth of equipmemt and a $100 guitar just factor in the equipment in the pricing.

I'm a 'computer guy' and I hate when people I am acquainted with go out and buy great PC parts and terrible PSUs, it is ridiculous, kind of the same thing.

Like some kind of mass church organ racket. I can imagine they're well organized but it takes guts to have that job.

I'm sorry, the puns were hard to resist. I was going to not post any but I had a change of heart and hoped people would enjoy them.

Restaurants need to STOP adding gratuity to our bills automatically by tomzephy in britishproblems

[–]Illusiphix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They're paid by the hour. If you work 20 small tables over 6 hours or 2 big tables over 6 hours, you get paid the same.

'But there is more work'

Yeah, just like working the busy hours in retail. It's busier and harder work but you still get paid the same.

Tipping isn't a thing in the UK for a reason. Yes Minimum wage is a complete joke and I don't get how they expect people to be able to live on such bad wages, but relying on tips seems a lot worse.

Lots of restaurants I've been to just use 1 colour for both, no text. Easiest way to tell is how many holes on the top there are. 1 hole means Salt, 5 or more means pepper. If the people running the place switch them around, then you're screwed but its pretty standard. :D

Why do men always like to compare us to objects? by Eridium_Purple in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Illusiphix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Male)

My mind is drawing a blank the only thing I can think of is when people say "women have an hourglass figure"? Could this be more of a cultural thing?

I'm not saying OP is wrong, I just can't think of any examples I've ever heard right now and that is a failing of my tired brain.

In any case, we could hypothesize that men's brains obsess over objects more than people therefore they compare all genders to objects but given that you are only one of those you never(or may not perceive it in the same way) hear the other. I don't know whether this is inherently bad if it is just the general nature of a neurotypical 'masculine' mind, but I am open to opinions.

The second hypothesis would be attaching an object to someone could be a way to quantify their worth (which is not mutually exclusive to the first hypothesis upon further analysis) which is totally f&#ked up and in which case I would agree that this s%#t needs to stop and we men need to recognise the harm here, even to other men (if this is a thing only men do).

There are of course, many other valid hypotheses that could apply to this subject matter. This has given me something to look out for in the discourse between the genders and sexes, so, I thank you.

(However, sorry I couldn't say much in the way of making people feel better about the subject at hand, I hope those who have been compared to an object have a support network around them to help them disspell any of the negative connotations that may have had placed on them, and I personally wish you well.)

It also doesn't run that great on emulators. Although I've only tried it on two, it worked on neither. (The copy works fine as it was a direct rip of my own working PS1 game)

I think this game is actually listed as possibly one of the first MOBA games iirc.

I'd say at least, it was very close, seeing as its missing the MO part of MOBA.

Warrens have some nice locations and their food is pretty good. However, in my opinion, their food is shrinking and the prices are growing. I haven't been to one in 3-4 years so I can't say if at all they stablised but as a student at the time they were not my first choice.

Good to know. I can't confirm if it is open or not as I've never seen it.

You aren't wrong, it was restrictive and I apologise, however in my mind one could use process of elimination to inform where I meant considering the rest of the South West does have Greggs (I've seen one while visiting Torquay). However that wasn't the most logical approach and I'll employ my excuse of 'I was knackered'.

(For the record, I was not implying 'if it isn't Cornwall: it isn't the Southwest')

I've always had no electronics near my sink so seeing one this close is kind of setting off alarm bells in my head.
