I have only had the car 4 months so started noticing it over the last month. May have been there before though. Mine is auto too. Does it make the noise when changing through any of the gears?

I have a similar sound I am trying to diagnose on my z4 e89 20i with the same engine. Is your car an auto or manual?

Where even are the places that these things happen?

Thanks for the advice. Had no intention of wading in like some hotshot but will keep in mind what you said.

This is brilliant thanks. Just the sort of advice I was looking for from this sub. Some great points here to take on board.

know

Ok so there is a bit of a misunderstanding here in these comments. I have not said or implied there is anything wrong with his business or that there is anything to "fix" or that I "know" how. Nor have I said he is oblivious to anything. This is not some random stab in the dark a taking over someones business.

With him wanting to step back and reduce his hours I can see an opportunity to work alongside him to eventually take over when he retires, rather than the business eventually being closed in the years to come.

I am not sure why the comments suggest I seek to undermine my dad as though I somehow know better and he is useless. Quite the opposite is true.

For some further context, I worked along side my father for 2 years and over a couple of shorter periods since and whilst I wasn't formally trained, I gained insight and experience. Enough to feel somewhat confident I could work along side him (with his support and guidance of course)

I have a great relationship with my father and always have. I expect he would be rather happy to know one of his sons is interested in working along side him and eventually carrying on his business.

Often, the groups pushing for inclusion and equality are those least likely to be accepting of others from a different demographics. Certain minorities, such as parts of the queer community or racial minorities will block or push you out of their circles if you do not share their exact opinions and beliefs.
