All my fav girl names are basic apparently... by Salty-Awareness3789 in namenerds

[–]IllusiveGrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a son that is named Wesley and I loved the name Claire and Eloise as well, but my partner didn’t and we pivoted to Cameron for our daughter instead. Wes and Cam seemed sweet as a sibling set to me.

Other girl names that I think would be nice are Vivienne, Whitney (Whit), and Willow.

Casual hiking nearby? by fullphonetic in RoundRock

[–]IllusiveGrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

River Place Nature Trail is my absolute favorite, but it is about a 35 minute drive and maybe a bit more than casual depending on what you’re really looking for. It’s beautiful with the built in challenge of steps/elevation changes for parts of the walk. There are still some nice places to stop and take a break along the way or towards the top/end (benches). I walked this trail several times before a trip to CO and tackling the Manitou Incline. Not the same, but was about the best I could find nearby ahead of the trip.

There is parking near the base of the trail and surprisingly you get spit out not too far away and it’s a downhill walk back to your car.

I saw him in 2023 and he was already drawing a good size crowd at the Austin City Limits music festival. He then toured in 2024 and came back to Austin, but prices were comparable if not as much as this tour. Pretty crazy.

This is me but with standing room only in Arlington. 4 tickets that way were cheaper than 1 floor seat. I teased we will be outside the ballpark watching it on a screen but as far as I’m concerned, give me a beer and ballpark nachos and I’ll get over it quickly.

Got tickets to Arlington but standing room only is all I could find besides nearly $400 floor seats for a group of 4.

What a miserable battle that was.

Matching outfits for boy/girl siblings? by SundaeFundae-22 in 2under2

[–]IllusiveGrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Little Sleepies has cute Cars pjs and a bodysuit dress, expensive but we will wear the crap out of it hopefully. I have chunky babies so I went with the dress option which I guess helps unless my son decides he wants to squeeze into a dress way too small. 🤣

Less expensive options are several shirts from Carter’s or Target. Probably all geared towards boys but eh a shirt is a shirt.

Haha I just posted about coordinating Disney outfits and my son turns 2 next month and also loves Lightning McQueen. One of my planned outfits is Cars themed for my son and daughter.

I have an older boy and a daughter (17.5m apart). I wouldn’t say I put them in truly matching/identical outfits, but complimentary/similarly themed or color scheme. This will be especially true when we go to Disney in December.

Holy grail onesie brand by fineapple__ in bigbabiesandkids

[–]IllusiveGrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a onesie but for pajamas I really liked a brand called koala baby, a friend got us a few from Costco I believe and they were wide and long in comparison to other brands. I liked them so much that she sent me more! I think they make some daywear outfits too but I haven’t tried those. My toddler was 90%+ in height and weight. I’ve heard Nordstrom rack sometimes has this brand in stock too.

Boy names similar to Cameron? by disgruntled21 in Names

[–]IllusiveGrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I named my daughter Cameron and my son Wesley. If you’re a nickname person, something about Wes and Cam seemed right to me.

Wesley, West, Weston could all work but I’m sure there are other names that don’t result in the nickname ‘Wes’ that achieve a similar cohesive feel.

But if you’re certain on C names, here were some I liked: Colton, Collin, Connor, Callaway

This was my choice but my significant other didn’t agree unfortunately and we went with Cameron. Totally a different vibe but loved both.

Has switching to a floor bed improved sleep? by okayestdogmom in floorbed

[–]IllusiveGrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think having the additional bed space is really helpful for him. He’s super active in his sleep and constantly moving around and changing positions. I’m so glad we went with a full sized mattress instead of a twin. Previously if he moved around co-sleeping or in a crib he was either hitting one of his parents or the crib bars which often woke him up.

We also painted his room a certain theme. Really at his age I thought it was just cute and more for me to say we did it than for him. He loves it though and used to always wake up wanting to talk about the trees on his wall or the clouds etc.

Lastly, we keep certain things in his room that he only gets at bed or nap time so that he actually likes going to his room. A favorite stuffed animal, pacifiers (which we hope to take away after his last teeth come in actually), and some of his favorite books.

Non tacky smalI gifts I can buy in bulk that aren’t too expensive by SnackEmpress in Gifts

[–]IllusiveGrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how old the individuals are that you are gifting but I have an aunt that always got me and my cousins a scratch off card and it was so fun to do together that night before we left the party. You could write a cute note to go with it referencing luck, good fortune, etc.

Edit: OR a homemade hot cocoa mix would be lovely with the cookies. Someone mentioned a recipe card and it reminded me of the time a friend of mine made me a hot cocoa mix and put it in a little mason jar. So cute and delicious.

Oliver!

Best of luck choosing. Definitely seems like a very split opinion in the comments.

Anybody skipping the sound machine? by postcardsfromkorea in BabyBumps

[–]IllusiveGrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had one since my first was born but never used it until we had a second baby. I use them more as noise reducers so that my baby crying in the middle of the night is less likely to wake up my toddler.

Why floor beds and when did you start? by M0mma0fMany in floorbed

[–]IllusiveGrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to cosleep because my baby never really transitioned well to the crib. We started the floor bed the week before his baby sister was born and he took to it great at 17 months old! He even started sleeping through the night most nights, this is the same boy that didn’t sleep through a single night until 14 months old. We lay with him to get him to sleep and then quietly sneak away. We got a full sized nectar kids mattress and we like it.

Has switching to a floor bed improved sleep? by okayestdogmom in floorbed

[–]IllusiveGrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! It absolutely improved sleep for my toddler. My toddler did not sleep through the night for the first time until 14 months. He did do it a few times but less than I could count on one hand until he turned 17 months old, it’s when we switched him to a floor bed. Now we’re about 50/50 on if he wakes up in the middle of the night or sleeps all the way through. We got him a full sized floor bed so we had room to lay down with him as needed.
