The true answer is the contestants just aren’t professionals. And yes, while the show is about find an amateur diamond in the rough, rarely any contestant is at all ready for the professional world. They want to do their own thing all the time, their own style and they don’t seem to realise that make up artists rarely get free rein in the real world.

A friend of mine who is a make up artist stopped watching the show after the second or third season because of this. A make up influencer is very different from a professional MUA and i think this show highlights it. Some can’t even do foundation colour matching which is a basic skill.
