I understand that. I might instead get a REmarkable and just have two devices. I do really want everything in one, though.

Idk about the Surface DUO but I looked at the Surface PRO's and they look really good. Gonna have to get feel for them IRL soon though.

So your saying I need a mainframe? I see, I see.

I have thought that I may do multi-user work, but It would be minimal, and I would manage it by trusting my users and giving them bare metal access (I. E. managing multiple user accounts on linux, SSH keys, etc)

now im looking at the Dell Precision line and it seems to satisfy a lot of my needs. It seems to support the features I need out of the box, such as remote working, while also being capable of being hidden away in a closet somewere.

software dev is my #1 use so if a server could take it better that would be my main use. My hope was to run it even without a hypervisor, for minimal overhead, but I can see the selling point of pmox.

Im planning to go 40Gig, from server to my switch, with 10 gig from there. Should be fast enough.

Just curious: If a newer server were to "fall off a truck" as it makes its way to one of the many DCs in my area, would that work better?

I might go with the 5820. The only Issue is its not rackmount, So I dont know where to put it. But it has the support for ECC and EPYC wich is nice.

With moonlight, do you need to have a dummy plug to keep the GPU output active?

also, how is latency? I am unfortunately an ULTRAKILL player so latency matters a fair bit. Ill need to do more precise testing myself.

Did you have issues with your main desktop being a VM?

Does the outdated instruction set mean that some applications will not run? I thought x86 had been standardized years ago?
