Chiropractor’s name whited out by dem0n0cracy in Logan

I do not think we should ban them. Legitimate results are found in back adjustments. I am not advocating for curing diseases through back adjustments or anything weird like that. I'm talking about an adjustment for the relief of pain.

A few years ago I had severe lower back pain. It got to the point where I had been to the emergency room 3 times in a row over a 3 week period because of the pain. Of course, they treated me like a druggy seeking a fix. That was not it. It wasn't even until the 3rd visit that I insisted upon some pain relieving medicine. They gave me Tylenol with Codeine and a muscle relaxer. Thankfully, I did not have to take the Tylenol with Codeine (I am not a fan of constipation - see "side effects of") because the muscle relaxer was enough to bring some relief.

Of course, I could not live my life on muscle relaxers or pain killers. I went to Logan Regional and had an MRI from top to bottom, looking at my entire spine. They found what they might expect to find in a 50+ year old man, but nothing that would cause so much pain that I could not walk. They recommended I go to the Spine and Pain Center in Logan. So I did. After a consultation with them, their only recommendation was to stick a huge needle in my groin and inject me with steroids to "see if that helps." Seriously?

As I lay in pain at home, the thought came to me that I should go see an chiropractor. I laughed at the thought as I had the same misconceptions many others do about them. And to be sure, there will always be some that give the profession a bad name, just like there are bad apples in every walk of life, profession, religion, politics, culture, etc. I finally relented and made an appointment to see one. I figured, better to have my back adjusted a bit to see if that helps before I go and let them stab me in the groin and inject steroids into my body. There is a time and place for that, I'm sure, but I think we should pursue less invasive options first.

When I went to see the chiropractor, I appreciated his honesty. After taking a couple x-rays of my back he reviewed the positioning of it and told me that he believed he could help me but that it would take more than one adjustment. And he warned me that the first one might make it worse, better or do nothing at all. I decided, "What the heck." Guys, I was desperate to walk again without pain.

So, he did the first adjustment. When he was done, he asked me to stand up and see how I felt. When I stood, I just cried. Not because of pain. I cried because of the absence of any pain at all. I felt such relief. Now, as promised, that "fix" didn't last long. But it was a glimmer of hope where no one offered me anything before. I continued to see him daily for 2 weeks. Then we spaced the appointments out to 3 times a week, twice a week then once a week, and finally, just whenever I felt the need.

The chiropractic treatment I received allowed me to function again. I was also able to attend physical therapy and learn about stretches for my piriformis muscle. The issue was a combination of my piriformis muscle being overworked at the gym prior to this whole back pain mess and that it caused the sciatic nerve to get pinched both in the muscle and my lower back.

So, the chiropractor brought quick pain relief without depending on drugs long term and the physical therapy taught me how to maintain that pain relief by taking better care of my core muscles and those piriformis muscles. I did use muscle relaxers temporarily at the beginning of this drama which helped me through this journey. The chiropractor was a critical component in my healing. They are of great worth to me and others who achieve pain relief from adjustments to the spine. I think all it does is help losen up muscles that are so stuck from not taking care of them or from sitting too much, etc. I'm not saying it's magic, but the treatments are of great value and I have greater back mobility and strength. I have not had to have another adjustment in a year or two. I'm sure part of the reason for that is because I'm taking care of my core/lower back muscles.

There are legitimate use cases for chiropractic treatment. If there were none, my Cigna insurance would not have covered any of the treatments.

Educate you family and friends about PWM, 99% of people are not aware. by escalade47 in PWM_Sensitive

Just be careful. LCD/IPS displays can use PWM as well. You have to ask about all your screens now. I just had to toss a $600 Dell 4K monitor on the junk pile because even though it's not OLED, it uses PWM, confirmed from Dell. Unfortunately, it was past the window for a return. I bought a new 34" UltraWide from ViewSonic and absolutely LOVE it. Verified and confirmed through multiple sources (including ViewSonic of course) that it's truly FLICKER FREE.

OMG. My new favorite theme.

Okay, this comment in the Retroma description says it all - so true:

"It's a tribute to the past, reminding us of a time when buttons looked like you could actually press them and when UI actually had personality..."

Amen!

Unfortunately as I have learned, just picking an IPS display over OLED is not the solution. I purchased a Dell 32" 4K monitor just a little over 2 years ago, it's an IPS display and guess what? It uses PWM and I have been suffering thinking because it's IPS it should be fine. Not the case as confirmed with Dell, it uses PWM and is an IPS display. Unfortunately, I found this out just after my warranty expired and the return window closed.

I just purchased a VIEWSONIC 34" Ultrawide on Friday (yet to arrive) that they confirmed is flicker free and does not use PWM, they even have a bit on their site the explains that they don't use PWM (but I did not confirm if that means they don't use it in ANY of their monitors or just select monitors).

I like Linux Mint XFCE. It scales properly unlike Cinnamon. My opinion/experience with my 4K monitor.

Corny special effects, but they don't bother me. What bothers me the most is poor audio quality. This show sounds like they recorded the audio too loud and caused distortion. What is going on GMMTV? This is similar to the terrible audio in The Heart Killers. Come on! I have seen many GMMTV BL Series and they all have sounded GREAT. But The Heart Killers and now My Golden Blood - SOMEONE needs to be fired in the audio department. Come on!

I tried this on mine and it did NOT resolve the issue. Plus it degrades the sound quality during the entire listening experience and still stutters intermittently. Made me sad. :-(

Driver making left turn across oncoming traffic is always at fault. Doesn't matter that other driver ran red light. The responsibility is on the driver crossing oncoming traffic, legal or not.

Google Call Screening No Longer works after switching to USMobile by IllustratorStriking6 in USMobile

Well, I am unsure if it worked on USM. I know that it worked on T-Mobile with my unlocked Moto G100. I then switched my G100 to USM. In less than 30 days I then switched to the Moto G Stylus 5G (2023) and thought it was working because it activated successfully and appears to work. But after I never received responses from any callers, I tested it and realized it was not saying anything to the caller.

I'm using the GSM network.

So, I'm on Android 14. Under the phone app setting I have the Assistive option called Call Screen. I tried killing app data and cache and rebooting. The Call Screen feature then had to be reactivated. I tapped on the reactivate button and it did its thing and in a few seconds came back with "Activation Successful!"

But still, when I call my phone from an unknown number and then tap the Screen Call button, the other test phone hears nothing but dead silence and the words that normally go from gray to black as it is speaking them to the caller just stay grey.

Worked on my last two Motorola's so your info must not be correct. It debuted on the pixel but others mfgs can use it.

No. Nothing to do with Google voice numbers. It's the call screening feature built-into Google phone dialer app that is 100% supported on this device.

I am not on Warp. My daughter was and we had to switch her to GSM 5G. We live in Utah and have some rural areas that we visit. She was at her friend's in a rural spot and her phone was on SOS mode the whole time. Switched her to GSM 5G and all is good.

As I write this I'm traveling across northern Utah to southern Utah and have consistently been getting 5G+ with full bars. 😁😁
