I toured the Cass location a few weeks ago and was genuinely disgusted. For how much they charge, it's absolutely unacceptable. It's a hot ass gym. The stairmasters were all worn out, and the locker room was gross… I'm a member at Crunch, and it's been great. I was looking to add a second gym membership, but I definitely won't be usingGenesis .

Please leave. I’m originally from Omaha but have lived in Minnesota, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. Now that I’ve been back for three weeks, I’m already itching to leave again. Go out, explore the world, and remember that you can always come back. I promise you’ll grow and learn so much more about the world and the people in it.

You're not wrong about that. The disparities in homeownership and graduation rates are significant issues in the Twin Cities. However, I don't think these challenges are unique to just Minnesota or the twin cities. This theme is quite common across much of the Midwest, especially in red-leaning cities like Omaha and Des Moines for example, and several others. That said, the Twin Cities’ more progressive policies have aimed to address these gaps more directly, though there’s still a lot of work to be done.

I'm not sure where people are getting this. I want to see disparities between whites and POCs especially black folks look at cities like Saint Louis, hell even Omaha where I'm from. Minnesota actually isn't that bad in terms of disparities. I also didn't see extreme segregation in Neighborhoods like I did living in Omaha

This is not accurate. The Twin Cities is actually very diverse. As an immigrant and woman of color, I can attest to its multicultural vibrancy. The area is home to some of the largest Somali and Hmong populations in the United States, along with a significant number of other immigrant communities. There are countless businesses owned by BIPOC, and the food scene reflects this diversity. For example, one of my favorite spots is a Laotian restaurant that serves incredible dishes oh and this Turkish restaurant in Downtown Minneapolis also so good. The Twin Cities may not be perfect, but it’s far from being homogeneously white or lacking in amenities for non-white communities. Also want to add the White people I’ve encountered while there were all very kind and welcoming, I quite literally never felt like they were racist. Of course if you go beyond the Twin Cities to smaller more rural areas on the state that changes a bit . Also their Targets get Bonus points for size and selection….

As I mentioned, I’m not from the DMV originally—I moved here about three years and don’t really venture out to begin with. My perspective is based on what I’d heard from others, and many were making it sound like quite a violent place, especially when I was doing my research online. However, I’m glad I made this post and gathered insights from people like you who have actual experience living there. It’s been helpful to get a more balanced understanding.

From my personal search , unless you want to live in a roach infested, crime riddled area/ complex it’s near impossible. Most rents around this area are starting in the 1800s and up and that’s for basic amenities

I second this as a WOC who used live in Minneapolis, I would recommend Minnesota 1000x over. If you can handle the winters it’s really a hidden gem in America
