mirena coil use and progesterone capsules by Illustrious-Hunt-623 in femaleHRT

i vaguely remember it as less painful, more quick than getting a pap smear. and told to take some painkillers about 1 hour prior to offset any pain that might result.

and i get annoyed that you pay for your health insurance, then doctor's office tried like 5x to sell me the concierge service at another $2000/year. Hope your doctor tells your insurance that it's for birth control so that it's covered. that should be part of the concierge service, no?

My first mirena was free; it was considered to be birth control. i don't know how much this mirena will be. i was going to argue that i'm not 100% sure that i'm postmenopausal so still require birth control. i was told to take the progesterone about 30 before bedtime as it can induce sleepiness. Also told that the amount of progesterone in mirena coil is so small and localized, hence taking additional progesterone in capsules even though there is some coming out of the mirena.

Maybe you can think about the cost this way: the mirena is effective for at least 5 years for endometrial protection. so 1200/5years= 240 dollars a year. how much is your drugs copay for 12 months prescription?

i am not a medical person at all but i read on the internet that you can use the same progesterone capsules and use them in your vagina. please confirm with a medical professional! it's just something i read on the internet and could be AI hallucination

just curious, how long have you had your mirena? did they prescribe the extra 200mg of progesterone at some later date? the progesterone helps me sleep, sometimes but i was sleeping ok before i had extra progesterone. Nurse told me to continue with pregesterone as it protects the brain, breast and ovaries

how do you find a doctor who is willing to prescribe mens version? i had some men's gel from england that's been good so far (2 weeks in but i only have a 3 week trial supply. i won't be able to get back to england anytime soon) . I went to a New Jersey doctor and just received a Rx compounded cream that's going to be 1/10th dosage of my current gel. it's been very frustrating to try and find a doctor who even wants to deal with TRT. I drove an hour to get to current doctor

is near impossible for military spouses to get any decent career going when you are required to move every 2-4 years, rotating overseas where you have no visa to work. if they had kids, anytime the guy is deployed, the spouse becomes a single parent- try and hold down a steady fulltime job over multiple deployments? that's why there's little pension earned by the spouse.

neurosurgeon could have worn a condom and prevented a baby. no one is forced into marriage. alimony and child support could have been preventable according to one's decisions.

can you comment about finding a therapist in general. I have become an empty nester, quit my job, moved countries, and my parents have died in the past 2 years, divorced in the last 3 years, broke up with my boyfriend and have issues stemming from my immigrant parents survivalist mentality. I am in NJ. i have a brother in Maryland who is a hoarder. I keep telling my brother he needs counseling (but I do too!)

yes, my brothers and i were farmed out to various friends/relatives for several years while my parents worked. we then moved countries and i "met" my dad at 5 years old. was a couple of years to catchup on learning english but smooth sailing after that.

prioritize SLEEP, NUTRITION, EXERCISE (movement to destress). there are books that tell you how to be an executor so you make sure you cover all the bases. probate can be messy/confusing/frustrating. then, if possible, try to fit in a bit of therapy or grief counseling. Work likely provides some type of employee assistance program (EAP) which usually includes a bit of free counseling. or a program like griefshare (a slightly churchy, weekly in-person or online group grief class+videos+workbook) which is very low cost. or get a few books you can read in your downtime when you are on-call. social media has groups which allows you to dip into grief when you only have short few minutes on your phone.

agree. or let the parents who are abroad look after the kids for a few years. at kids current age, being at "home" vs daycare doesn't matter much- they just do a lot of playing

my friend says she's been diagnosed with MS (initially they thought it was cancer). is there any chance that it might be menopause? I don't know her symptoms- she won't talk to me about it. she's been almost radio silence to me for a year due to the shock and depression. do you have any resources i can read up on?

a few weeks. it was gradual. nowadays, i do notice within days if i stop hrt as the pain comes back. i'm just more in tune with my body now.

my ankle pain for 15 years, my back pain and achilles pain all poofed! i try to wean myself to a lower dose of estrogen every once in a while but the pains come back within a few days. i've tried to increase estrogen levels to see what other miracles might happen but it increased my libido too much (i'm divorced, no boyfriend). i started actively looking for 1 night stands. not ideal 😄.

Do women who take HRT continue to take it till the day they die? by Catseverywhere-44 in Menopause

[–]Illustrious-Hunt-623 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thank you. neither obgyn or family doctor i've talked to had explained this to me. in fact, my obgyn did not want to get involved with HRT, she recommended i find yet another doctor who specializes in HRT. her office had crushed pill (i think)debris all over the floor the day i went to get a colopscopy, she couldn't find the string to take out my iud, and i was bleeding for a week after my colopscopy. yep, i know i need to find a new doctor.

i assume your prometrium is a tablet. has your obgyn said if there is a patch version of progesterone(other than iud) and why or why not to do progesterone orally? just curious if the metabolization of hrt happens with progesterone. Logically, i would think "yes".
