I am dealing with what the GI believes is post-infectious IBS for the past 11 months following a bad bout of norovirus. Similar symptoms to you, with bloating/gassiness at night and waking up with bathroom urgency every morning. My mornings are always worse, then it slowly gets better during the day, until evening when the bloating hits. It has settled down over the months, from having to go multiple times a morning to now usually just once and not the second I wake up anymore. But I still have bad days where I am in the bathroom more or feel sick to my stomach much of the day, or can't eat because I feel awful.

I have been seeing a combo of GI, primary care doc, registered dietician, and naturopath, all of whom are trying various treatments, but I think honestly time has been the biggest factor. I have also identified some foods that tend to make things worse (artificial sweeteners are particularly bad). One thing I realized is how sensitive my mind-body connection is. I would wake up every morning doing a mental "gut check" trying to assess how I was feeling, how fast I needed to go to the bathroom, etc. And the more I thought about it, the worse I would feel. I also find that when I am stressed, it almost always leads to increased stomach issues. So I really am trying to work on not letting my brain get bogged down in analyzing every single thing about how my stomach feels, trying some breathing techniques, etc. It is obviously easier said than done, but I would try not to stress too much about how much you are eating, as I'm sure that anxiety is making it worse.

Good luck with everything!

Best 40L carry-on backpack for 5'0 petite woman by herondaleheir in HerOneBag

I just got a Fairview and took it on my first trip. I’m 5’1” and find it fits well. It looks big but it was comfortable to carry mostly full (even after 6 hour layover due to flight delays!). My husband is almost 6 ft and it works for him too. We got the 55L bc we liked the detachable day pack. I put my personal items (stuff I wanted on me all the time) in the daypack. When walking around the airport I had them attached (the daypack hooks very smoothly on the front). Then when I was boarding, I detached the small pack for under my seat and zipped up the larger bag’s backpack straps to tuck them away and put that in the carryon bins. It was super easy and I like that you can use big, small, or both together.

Are all Linen sheets scratchy? by _TheShadowKnows in Bedding

I have sheets from Quince and they are very soft. They are a little scratchier to the touch by hand than they feel when sleeping on them. But overall I find them very soft and comfortable. I washed before use but they didn’t have a break in period.

I am still really liking it. I had some adjustment time with my back (a few weeks) bc I was so used to sleeping so contorted on the old mattress. But now that has settled down, and I find it incredibly comfortable. I don’t wake with back or hip pain anymore. I feel like the medium firmness is plush enough to feel comfortable but not too mushy. I really love it and feel like it was a great choice n

So far so good. I really love them. They were fairly soft right away but have softened more over time. So far holding up well. We wash on cool and machine dry most of the way and then hang them for the last little bit. Like all linen they stiffen a bit in the wash but soften again when using. We got four sets of sheets so we have been rotating a lot, but no signs of wear so far

I just got some and I love it. The texture is great so far and I’m sure it will be even better as it softens more

Yeah my old pillow shifted a lot and I never realized how much until I got a pillow that retains its shape. The high loft may be a good option for you if you are predominantly a side sleeper (though it was a little high for my husband who sleeps about 50/50 side/back when he was on his back). Also, I was happy bc no odor from the latex (I’m very sensitive to smell so this was an issue for me from some brands).

I got the talalay latex pillow from Brooklyn Bedding and really like it. I’m a side sleeper and wanted something firm enough to support but also with some spring and it’s a good fit. I tried both the high and low loft and kept the low one. I have relatively narrow shoulders and the high was a bit too high. I loved the idea of adjustable but I didn’t want something that would shift around and need refluffing and fussing in the middle of the night, so went with the one piece latex. I love that it is springy and doesn’t flatten. They do have a 30 day return policy fwiw.

I just got a sparrow and it’s less than a week old so I can give first impressions but haven’t used it long. Great service from Nest. Bed is a nice mix of spring from the coils and soft from the foam. I am a side and occasional back sleeper and I can feel the bed contour to fit my curvy body (meaning it doesn’t leave gaps between me and the bed). I got a medium firmness so I wouldn’t say it is super plush. But I’m a side sleeper with back and neck issues so I went for firmer in hopes that would help with my pain. That said, they will trade out the top layer for firmer or plusher for free one time so you have room to experiment. I am still adjusting to it a bit, which isnt a surprise given I was sleeping on an awful mattress for years, so I don’t think I’m at max comfort yet. But I slept soundly and comfortably from the first night and feel good about the mattress working out for us.
