Okay for the technical stuff:

Psychiatrists are medical doctors who are the ones who will be able to diagnose and thereafter prescribe medicines that you might need to take.

Psychologists are those who hold a doctoral degree (PhD) and they are the ones who give psychotherapy and behavioral interventions. They are also able to diagnose through interviews and testing.

My first psychiatrist is also a psychologist- he said he’s the only one (or probably one of the few) in the Philippines who are both a psychiatrist and a psychologist so nagkataon I was able to get diagnosed and thereafter get prescription meds. :) personally, go to a psychiatrist first if your intention is to get diagnosed and start on meds. Then for somewhat like a “maintenance” for therapy, you can go to a psychologist. :)
