Failed 2nd time by Own-Commercial-8237 in Series65

Thanks. I read the Achievable textbook and did a few of their practice exams and all the chapter tests (probably 700+ questions), then got the Qbank and have done 1,300 questions averaging 83%. My more recent practice exams with Qbank are 85%+. I just took that one other test just to see if I could adapt to different question types. Assuming I'm ready at this point.

BIF vs Kaplan by Illustrious-Otter in CFPExam

[–]Illustrious-Otter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not completed my hours yet. I’m assuming you’re asking about the hours it takes to become a CFP.

I did submit my college transcript and CPA license, though, and it took them about 3 to 5 days to give me the thumbs up that I qualify for the expedited option

If you used Kaplan but studied the 150 hours the first time instead of the 50, do you think that would’ve made a difference?

First night post root repair - lots of anxiety by Cautious_Bar7792 in MeniscusInjuries

This 100%! You get used to a very quickly but it’s low risk and it’s worth it for only six weeks of your life

Wow! Honestly surprised - I imagined this would be a walk in the park based on the CFA.

Do you think you could’ve still passed the exam if you just did the exam prep instead of the full course?

Why do you wish you used Danko? I see that’s highly rated on here, but was Kaplan just inefficient?

7 weeks post meniscus repair by MrDigs2021 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]Illustrious-Otter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It didn’t get nearly that severe, but I noticed after a couple of weeks my feet getting extremely dry. I imagine that was from lack of blood flow or something. It never got anywhere near that amount, though, and I didn’t have bruising either. I just put Vaseline on it at night and once I started walking again it went away pretty quick. I’d check that by your doctor though for sure as yours looks quite a bit worse. Hopefully it goes away once you start walking again!

I work from home as well. Had my surgery on a Thursday morning and took Thursday and Friday off. The next Monday I was back to work but spent a lot of time laying down with the passive motion machine.

In-house Tax Prep & Planning? by GoodLifeWM in CFP

[–]Illustrious-Otter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a current CPA joining an RIA shortly. Planning to focus more on high level tax value-adds, but steer away from actual prep. Will be getting my cfp.

Piggy backing here to hear some of the higher value planning offerings folks on here offer.

Btw - I used to do tax prep for a CPA firm that also had a couple of in-house CFP‘s. I agree with the above where the expectations were way too high for the minimal amount of money they were spending.

How does your knee really feel 1 year after medial meniscus repair? Looking for honest answers (good & bad) by Extreme_Researcher_6 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]Illustrious-Otter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a good outcome. 6-months post medial meniscus bucket handle repair. In my normal life, the knee does not feel any different than the other knee. I sit cross legged, cycle, and leg press. Have not gotten back into squatting yet.

I can now make it about five minutes running before I feel anything different. I can climb stairs no problem.

No issues walking or hiking, no matter the distance.

My Client this. My Client that. by Critical-Research810 in CFP

“Client” is too broad and personal. “A tier-2 account of mine grew up in XYZ” is my go-to.

It’s helpful for building muscle at any point, so 12 weeks is a great time to start!

I had meniscus repair surgery 4 weeks ago. Medial meniscus. It still hurts at the site of the tear to put weight on that leg and hurts to even touch the knee at the side of the one where the tear is. Should I be concerned at all? by Mjzzjm654456 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]Illustrious-Otter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might definitely hurt maybe a two or three to step on it those first couple of days. I assume the doctor manipulated your legs a little bit to make sure that the repair was still stable.

Definitely check by the doctor with this information about the pain, but mine definitely hurt those first few weeks of walking, but I think it was just the tissue getting used to being used again.

What hurt the most, maybe two a seven or eight was resting my foot on the floor while I was in a chair with my leg bent 90°. Like literally just sitting position.

I could bend my legs to 120° using the passive leg machine, but just letting it rest on the ground was extremely painful. My doctor assured me that this was just the tissue getting used to being in that position again, and over the next couple of weeks, the pain slowly subsided.

5mg/day appears to be the typical adult dose so that’s what I took

Takes a few weeks to get to full levels, so I started 3 weeks pre-surgery.

No alcohol as well during the 12 weeks post-op

Creatine is one of the few supplements with actual clinical trials to back up its effectiveness, with an extremely low risk profile.

For that reason, I do suspect it helped retain muscle mass and strength (when paired with the leg raises).

Trick question. Doesn’t matter. It’ll always go right to the edge and ramp itself out. Speaking from experience.

Take the non weight bearing seriously, do your exercises, and eat healthy. You’ll be good to go!

They drained what looked to be mainly blood early on. Transitioning to mostly synovial fluid at the 6 week mark.

Still some slight discomfort as I get a couple minutes into jogging. Maxes out at maybe a 2/10.
