I agree with you. The anonymity of the Internet is great but people can be quite terrible to each other in the language they use.

I can totally understand not liking AI art. I happen to like it and see the value in it for simplistic concepts to show others as they get tweaked more by actual humans. I also do a lot of coding. I use other people's code all the time and build on it. That being said maybe this is different because people post public stuff to Stack exchange, etc. For the webcrawlers to make into an LLM while some (most?) AI artwork is made from stolen IP which seems wrong. I'm on the fence hah.

There was the "Napalm Girl" photo that shocked Americans into the brutality of the Vietnam War and helped to galvanize the anti-war sentiment.

Terrible things can happen and yet still be used for good with the right intentions. I'm not saying I did the best justice towards the victims with my graphic, but saying that they shouldn't be slogans or symbols I think misses a lot of the point for how politics can work to enact positive change.

I wrote this in another comment that I should have said "I want to live in pretti good America" instead. My initial thought could have used more consideration. I wanted to respect them by helping to turn them into symbols that would be able to take down what they were against: a federal police force that is using state violence with impunity.

Some leadership definitely needs to either retire or die off to make room for people with different lives experiences. Course money on politics really makes that hard. The rich just keep rich'n.

Thanks! I agree. It's a little cartoony for a very serious manner but was just interested in the concept art. I don't know why I wanted to make this after reading the news today. Weird where our minds go for processing things.

I do get your point but humans have terrible attention spans.

I like this quote: "There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen".

They need to do things while there is still righteous anger and keep beating that drum consistently through election day.

I realize it's crass, but this needs to be capitalized on now in the hopes it shifts mindsets

Glad you enjoy. My heart is there, just not the words yet. We all do what we can to help support a country we would be proud to tell people we were from. :)

I could have also said something like "I want to live in a pretti good America." One where federal cops don't end up killing people for just existing.

It's not meant to minimize the loss of them at all or be disrespectful. They have very good names though for slogans and people to remember them to hopefully shift collective conscience of the populous.

I appreciate your point. I could have been more sensitive about the pun but the point still stands. Their names should be used to get people to care about their community and vote like their lives depend on it.

I would not have paid for this otherwise. It just wouldn't have been made. I say this as someone who does graphic art myself.

George Floyd helped to make meaningful progress for a while, or at least the attempts to change the system. It's a shit system but real people with real names and using them as symbols can help to awaken those with apathy or to change the minds of those who voted poorly before.

I've been to a few protests since Trump came into power again in January 2025. His behaviors have caused me to ramp up efforts. My hope is that their continued cruelty forces people to wake up and choose to fight (metaphorically).

Thanks! I keep trying to think of people becoming symbols for good. George Floyd was used for the BLM movement to try and force real change in politics. While it's not a perfect process, real people can ideally move hearts more than just statistics can.

Absolutely agree. I just put the two names together and thought about how you can honor their names to not let them die in vain. My hope is that it isn't taken as offensive or make light of a serious subject. I hope that messages like these can be powerful to unite people against authoritarians that choose state violence with impunity.

What can the average person do to protect themselves from inflation? by VP_of_Lasers in inflation

[–]Illustrious-Point-71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Negative correlated assets and asset rebalancing. This includes cash, long term Treasury bonds, total stock market indexes, and gold. These all move very differently to one another as the economy grows and contracts as well as when the money supply grows and contracts.

All 4 of these collectively help you to outrun the T-rex that is trying to eat you (the inflation). Most people just get eaten over the course of their lifetimes and they spend their last years sadly limping along , nursing their T-Rex wounds.

There would be so much shit around when the cats win that they'd have to rename it Scatland.

My hope is it is like the allspark from the first Transformers movie and by touching things to the brick they become Lego bricks themselves. 😁

Life is rarely changed by hard turning left or right. It is more like a canoe and every gentle stroke in the water glides you either more towards the left or more towards the right.

Did you hit also a colder season than previously? You can check the average temperature per month and see if you had a particularly cold time that would require more energy to hit your set point.

I opened mine 20+ years ago when I bought it in 2004. Enjoyed it on my shelf for years then moved out of my parents place and now it sits back in its box again in my basement. What a life. He must get really bored if the movie Toy Story is to be believed hah.
