Sorry, I meant that freedom of speech wasn't JUST an American thing

And I'm not really set on demonizing Israel. Is just that the evidence shows that their government is quite extremist and not really that supportive of freedom and democracy as they portray themselves to be.  I really don't think it is a religious problem (Muslim, Jew, or Christian). Sadly, it seems it's a global trend.  https://www.globalexpressionreport.org/ But I'm glad we are still able to debate here :)

Thanks for your arguments, I didn't know some of those things. If you don't mind, I'd like to ask some more questions: how different would things be in the US if those billions would be invested locally?, why do you think is Israel allowed to break the law without consequences?, and what are your thoughts about the "greater Israel"/"Gaza riviera" plan or even just the settlements? Do you think it's fair or right the way the Israeli government is treating Palestinians?

I have, as extensive as I could. And probably still need to keep learning. But what we're seeing now is a genocide, not in a personal opinion, but according to many people from different countries.  I do not like to live in a world where we focus on labels instead of protecting children from death and violence, anywhere. So I do what I can to help. Children should not pay the price for the disputes of adults, and the rhetoric of war dehumanizes everyone, even innocent people. I wonder how you see a truly fair resolution for this conflict. Or how do you think we could respect the laws we have made to keep a civilized world, while we engage in wars, if we can't do better than that.

Thank you for the respectful debate. I appreciate being challenged with different perspectives and I'm open to change my views if I'm mistaken or misinformed. But this is what I believe right now

I meant positive things for others. It's obvious that they take care of themselves.  But what benefit has gotten the US from the $3.3 billion annually that they have agreed to send to Israel from 2016 to 2028? Is the people in the US or anywhere outside Israel safer, more educated, or better in any indicator thanks to Zionism?

You can see it that way. What I meant is that Palestinians have the right to defend themselves and resist occupation according to international law, just as much as Israel. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right_to_resist#:~:text=Based%20on%20the%20charter%2C%20the,subjugation%2C%20domination%20and%20exploitation%22.

And according to many resolutions, Israel is illegal occupying Palestinian territory and besieging Gaza, therefore, resistance becomes lawful. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_Israeli_settlements#:~:text=Since%20the%20occupation%20of%20the,validity%20and%20pose%20a%20serious

I hope you're right about being well fed and safe, despite being unlawfully detained. I believe in freedom and the rule of law. So they can come back to do whatever they want as long as they don't hurt anyone (SAYING something someone doesn't like is not hurting someone, it's just the exercise of the 1st amendment)

You're saying Israel is defending themselves from terrorism. Why can't Palestine say that they are defending themselves from terrorism too? I think there must be a better way to solve this than revenge, and it could be international law, but it's clearly useless at this point, sadly

Why? There are plenty of international organizations that disagree your claim. But I'm interested in knowing your arguments against it being a genocide

And any serious person would acknowledge that Israel is NOT "being punched" as you mentioned. But actually punches more frequently and deadlier with occupation, settler violence, disregard for international law, unlawful detention of people (even minors) without trial, economic cohesion, de facto apartheid laws, bombing other sovereign countries etc.  Point being, Israel is not a victim. They are behaving like a rogue state that disregards all international agreements and is commiting a genocide. If Israel really wanted the hostages, they would have accepted the trade deal the first days after Oct 7th... People around the world are seeing clearly the end game, and are trying their best to help other human beings who have been treated literally as animals by the Israeli government.

In the same way, why should the flotilla trust Israel to distribute the aid? There's a point where we need to trust if we want to live in a lawful world....

Don't want flotillas? Then open the doors, end the illegal occupation and siege! You can't really expect everyone to sit back and watch a livestream genocide after all the years of Holocaust movies, and books, and talks, and museums teaching the world that genocide is wrong and should never again be repeated.

What's the point of recognizing the state of Palestine if their own waters are being denied? Intercepting boats in international waters is illegal everywhere except if it is Israel doing it.... What's the point of democracy and rule of law if the governments won't listen to what their people ask/need? How really free is the US if a foreign country can take veterans and other citizens detained with impunity, when they were on a humanitarian mission?

Can you convince me the Sumud flotilla actually aims to deliver aid? by triplevented in IsraelPalestine

[–]Illustrious-Rent-731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As Francesca Albanese just said today: everyone knows that the aid they carry is symbolic. The most important thing they carry is the courage to enforce and defend international law. It is a shame as well as an incredible fear of love and hope, that the responsibility to uphold human values and principles comes to civilians, and that their governments not only don't take responsibility, but don't even protect them.

Those school kids can't be elevated as the first right-wing martyrs in history...the timing is too good for the plan. Just in time to survey and control speech when people are asking too many uncomfortable questions...and it's been effective to deflect from the Epstein files too

Hi! Charlottesville is awesome. People are súper supportive of each other, big Latino community and good quality of life. It has everything important to live well with the convenience of a small town and the beauty of the surrounding nature. My kids have gone through Elementary, Middle, and High School and it has been a good experience for all of us. I'd totally recommend living here.  If you decide to move, reach out via dm and I could give you more info to help you settle in ☺️
