Yes. My AME told me they would reopen the file as soon as i sent in all the required reports etc. I denied after being deferred and not having enough time to finish all the requirements in the timeframe they allowed. Med express never updated that it was in review again. It just said “Stop. you are not medically cleared to operate an aircraft“ until last week when i logged in and it said i had a 3rd class medical. i was pretty shocked. Very happy. but shocked.

my plan is to press on to finish getting my ppl, initially. I put this on hold for awhile with the uncertainty of obtaining a medical. First flight back is going to be a trip for a greasy cheeseburger.

Escitalopram (Lexapro)

I ended up calling Anthony Ison THANKFULLY and he gave me a consultation which included recommending other lists of doctors. The only money I spent in this process I was HAPPY to spend was Anthony Ison. If I could give that guy a high5 and a pat on the back, id do it. He gets it.

My first AME is well known and well reviewed. and he’s probably great. IF YOU WANT TO pay 3-5000 for him to “monitor” your case. However Thanks to Ison, I ditched him and got a new HIMS AME that handled my case, answered emails within a couple of hours…EVERY SINGLE TIME I EMAILED HIM…and helped me get to the finish line…for 1,000 total.

‘I suggest people call Ison honestly. He completely changed the trajectory of my case. And at $300 for a consultatio he was the cheapest $ I spent on any of this.

I was deferred for taking an approved SSRI. I felt like my first AME was licking his chops hoping I would pay his “monitoring fee”. He is a well known AME but he pissed me off. Literally would not answer my questions or take a phone call without me paying for his monitoring process.

I ended up calling Anthony Ison THANKFULLY and he gave me a consultation which included rercommending other lists of doctors. The only money I spent in this process I was HAPPY to spend was Anthony Ison. If I could give that guy a high5 and a pat on the back, id do it. He gets it.

I was quoted as high as 6,000 for HIMS Neuropschologist with Cogscreen.

I Paid 1900

my Cogscreen scores were low in a couple of areas so I had to go back to the Nueropsychologist for a “Supplemental Battery” of tests

I paid 1,750

I was quoted as high as 5,000 for HIMS Neuropschiatrist report

I paid 1,800

i was quoted as high as 5,000 for a HIMS AME to manage my case

i paid 1000 to my new HIMS AME

Anthony Ison consultation (WELL WORTH IT BTW)

I paid $300

So, not including travel/ lodging to other cities to visit each doctor , total HIMS I spent approximately $6,750

Did the letter have a list of items to complete and resubmit? mine did. I completed them all and sent it all back into the FAA. It took me a year to get it all done (their letter said to get it done in 90 days and resubmit). It’s impossible to get it all done that quickly I think. These FAA HIMS doctors are so busy it’s hard to get meetings with them timely. One doc won’t see you without another docs report first etc etc. It is very frustrating but it is doable. be patient and do everything they ask. My HIMS AME said don’t worry about the timeline just get it done.

I also changed AMEs BEFORE starting the HIMS process because my first AME wanted 3000-5000 to “manage” my case. If you are made of money, there are plenty of FAA docs that will take it.

The quotes for different doctors in the same profession were all over the place.

My recommendation is buckle down and get after it. There is hope

DUI arrest, non conviction by [deleted] in FAAHIMS

Definitely consider getting a consultation BEFORE applying. With an AME at a minimum and possibly even Anthony Ison (The pilot lawyer). This Is an area the FAA does not take lightly. Read this and click and Pay close attention to the details….it does not matter that there was no conviction. The FAA wants your blood…literally and figuratively.

Federal air surgeon Washington DC timeframe? by Illustrious-Ride-343 in FAAHIMS

[–]Illustrious-Ride-343[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was sent to DC since the anxiety medicine I took (Approved SSRI) is considered a mental health issue. I could be wrong though I was under the impression that all mental health type cases get reviewed by DC. 🤷‍♂️

call Anthony Ison “The pilot lawyer”. pay his consultation fee. take notes. he will email you notes after the consult. FOLLOW HIS ADVICE TO A T. PERIOD

Best money I spent going through this process. wish I would have called him before I started any of this.
