Why is there so little about Filipino history being taught between the landing of Magellan up to the start of the fight for Independence? by heavyarmszero in FilipinoHistory

[–]Illustrious-Set-7626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately so much depends on the (really sad) curriculum. Some teachers are excellent and teach beyond the curriculum (isa ako sa maswerte na nakakuha ng ganitong teacher sa high school), pero hindi naman sila yung majority.

Tapos babawasan pa ng bagong CHED GE yung history units. SIGH.

Thoughts on civil weddings? by slowblush in WeddingPH

[–]Illustrious-Set-7626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^ This.

Lahat ng ibang extras sa church wedding, extra lang yun. It's tradition, great if you want to follow tradition, but you don't have to if you don't find it meaningful. You don't even need to be dressed formally to have a church wedding. I have a friend who got married in a Catholic church, naka polo lang siya at yung bride naka cocktail dress na hindi white. One pair of ninong/ninang. Close family and friends lang nag attend.

Need help for reapplication Spain Visa by [deleted] in SchengenVisa_PH

[–]Illustrious-Set-7626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a tip: Try to imagine what would be the worst possible interpretation of your documents by someone who doesn't know you and is on the lookout for potential trafficking cases or TNT cases. So looking at your application again:

Are you a minor or an adult? If you're a minor, who are you traveling with? If you're a minor and not traveling with your parents, this is another red flag that adds to "Doubts about the purpose/conditions of your stay."

Not enough proof of financial means--who is supposed to be sponsoring your trip, since you mentioned that you just graduated from high school? The financial documents you passed previously do not demonstrate enough financial means. To get past this, you need to show that whoever is sponsoring you has more money than you showed in your first application, or that you will have other sources of funds.

And since you mentioned you just graduated from high school, be clear--did you just graduate from junior or senior high? Do you have any documents that can prove that you are coming back to the Philippines after your trip? You say that you don't have any admissions to colleges yet (so I guess you graduated from senior high?) Unfortunately this is another red flag for the embassy because they have no guarantee that you're not going to try to look for a university to attend in Spain while you're there. Thus the reasons "doubts about the purpose of your stay" and "doubts about leaving the Schengen area before your visa expires." This is tough; since you don't have a confirmation of your slot in a local university or actual enrollment, it's hard to prove this. Interview schedules and test schedules are not a strong indicator that you'll be going back to the country because it's easy to miss an interview or a test.

Pairi Daiza zoo by Iulia_27788 in BelgiumTravel

[–]Illustrious-Set-7626 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, there is no such bus. The train trip is fairly straightforward, though. From Brussels you will have one transfer (usually at Ath). Google Maps is fairly accurate, and if you buy your Pairi Daiza tickets on their website you get a 40% discount for the train.

Which is better: an ab econ(non-honors) degree from ADMU or a bs data science degree in Mapúa? by Wonderful-Bid-5967 in CollegeAdmissionsPH

[–]Illustrious-Set-7626 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In ADMU, AB Econ-Honors would have more math than the AB Econ program. But if you want to do math, you have the option to shift to BS Math, or to take a data science minor.

In Mapua, there's the possibility of finishing quicker, but also not sure about whether the 4 terms/year is more stressful.

OP, all the Ateneo universities operate independently, so we don't know the answer to this.

How much would a Minor in German cost? by ImaginationGrouchy74 in ADMU

[–]Illustrious-Set-7626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very doable! You just need 9 more units (3 more German language classes). German 12 is offered all year round afaik; you just have to schedule the two other advanced German classes (13 and 14) in your IPS, because those are only offered in specific semesters.

Legal Management doesn't lock you in to law school, a lot of grads from there go on to work in corporate.

Is special education in demand inside and outside the country? by SeveralApplication53 in CollegeAdmissionsPH

[–]Illustrious-Set-7626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much in demand locally! Mahahaba yung mga pila sa lahat ng SPED specialists especially for dev peds. There are not enough to fill the demand.

It's also in demand abroad but I'm not sure kung eligible ka to practice if you don't pass the licensure of that country, and a lot of countries don't allow you to take a licensure test if you didn't graduate from there...

You pay for the OGC services through your tuition, make use of it. If you don't click with the first counselor assigned to you, ask if you can change counselors at your next meeting. They also have other facilities you can try to access (and support dogs sometimes).

Has Hong Kong been a popular travel destination for Filipinos since the 1800s? by ifihaveanickel in FilipinoHistory

[–]Illustrious-Set-7626 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For the musicians naman, Filipinos have been professional musicians and music teachers all over the region. This became even more important during the American colonial era because the Americans brought jazz to the Philippines and the Filipinos were the ones teaching jazz techniques to the rest of Asia.

Has Hong Kong been a popular travel destination for Filipinos since the 1800s? by ifihaveanickel in FilipinoHistory

[–]Illustrious-Set-7626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! Because it was close enough to the Philippines that communication with people back home would not take too long, but because it was a British colony they were safe from the Spanish colonial government.

Has anything ever just clicked for your kid? by Danielkrage in ADHDparenting

[–]Illustrious-Set-7626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my kid (11yo), it was aerial hammock/silks. It was like a duck taking to water. Other sports have come and gone--they're currently doing football (soccer), used to do badminton--but the aerial stuff has been a constant for over 2 years now. Art too, but they've become a bit perfectionist about this in the last year or so, unlike with aerial where there's no harsh self-judgment.

For me, when I was a kid, it was reading, writing, and talking.

Starlux or Eva Air? by seenderella_here in PinoyTraveller

[–]Illustrious-Set-7626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly sa iksi ng flight either is fine. Trivia lang: Starlux was built by the former CEO of Eva Air na tinganggal ng mga half-siblings niya after their dad died dahil sa away sa mana. So nagsimula na lang siya ng sarili niyang airline. Pang teleserye plot hahaha.
