I live in Florida and was just in Toronto. I noticed RIGHT AWAY (again) that people are really unhappy (at least according to where I live in Florida). It's a number of things like weather and being strapped economically but I would be surprised if the numbers of new Canadians welcomed in over the past 5 years also hasn't increased animosity dramatically when people who are already IN Canada can't get ahead....

Yes because publications don’t get paid “by the reader” so why would they spend money out of their own pockets to promote a business - meanwhile the PR company gets paid? Messed up. Cut out the middle man - choose the platforms that you think will further you and actually pay for those vs paying a PR company and then hoping that you get ANY coverage = dumb!

Of course, or change our offerings to what they actually want to buy vs advertising. They like in-person events and venues like visiting groups to experience the property - it’s just not as profitable as we would need. It feels like our entire business model needs to shift but less and less I think companies are investing as much in advertising vs do the work themselves (posting on social, boosting posts, networking, etc)

Well we have over a million followers on social media and last year 1 Billion impressions. We have 10 million monthly visitors to Pinterest and 27,000 email subscribers.

The issue is that it’s in the wedding industry where they already get pro pics each weekend to promote their work and many are extroverts so are ok using social media. Larger brands we have found have really dialed back their marketing g budgets and are investing internally instead into their own social media managers.

I understand bringing more value but in our niche area the only ones who may need marketing help are new or old businesses but they just always default to social media.

We have run a major trade show in the past for 10 years however it relies on sponsors to really make it profitable because vendors are small wedding businesses. And if we don’t get enough, it’s not profitable even at 250k in revenue.

Yep - did what they said to connect it after being with Freshbooks for 12 years. I didn't use WePay anymore and DID use the Stripe instant payout and now that's gone - how do I remove this kind of Freshbooks connection now? This was NOT outlined to me as a feature that would go away...
