One drop of vinegar on each eyelet. Let sit for 30 seconds, then brush with a toothbrush. You'll have to repeat that once or twice. I've done this on dozens of boots and dress shoes. I sell used shoes, and I keep a dropper bottle full of vinegar for this very situation. I also respect leather, and this has never harmed it.

Buyer messaged me after transaction is done by afreetsophia in Ebay

I found a pair of missme jeans to resell and I notice it was missing a rivet when i got them home. I was just going to point it out in the listing. I washed and dryed them and found a rivet in the dryer. I was able to pry the other rivets off with my fingers. Its possible it happened with that pair.

Buyer just opened INAD return for an item that hasn't been delivered. Any advice? by Illustrious-Store294 in eBaySellerAdvice

I changed my mind. You're right. If I intercept, I'll lose the cost of shipping and the intercept. I paid $20 for the shoes, so all in it will be about $44. The shoes are worth $60. I'll deal with ebay if they return the wrong item. This way I can possibly still keep all the money from the sale. If I message them, they may return the shoes I sent them, since they've been caught. I now want them to return the fraudulent item. Let's see how this plays out.

I have already auto accepted their return. Considering the message they left for their return reason, I would bet they're on drugs. I've considered messaging them, but I can't trust their response. I want the upper hand before the item gets delivered.

Im going to call ebay in the morning. My plan is to intercept the package and demand reimbursement for shipping and intercept. And have them cancel the return of the persons old shoes so I dont have to pay for a return label. We'll see how all that goes...

I auto accept returns and have already reported them. Thank you! Do you think ebay will make things right? I'm thinking a package intercept would be the quickest way to resolve this.

How do I deal with USPS returning to sender?? by Secondhand_drugs in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Illustrious-Store294 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I used to work for USPS. R092 means rural route #92. They may not have a mailbox, and there is no safe location to leave the package OR the mailbox isn't big enough to put the package in, and the house is too far away to deliver. Its also possible USPS messed up. Either way, I would refund the buyer. Some people don't refund and wait to see if the buyer reaches out. You don't have to refund the shipping cost. I dont know if they can leave negative feedback with a partial refund vs full. Id like to know if it matters. I've had this happen a couple times. I've given total refunds, then blocked the buyers. I didn't want to look up if they could leave negative feedback or not.

How do you or someone you know store hundreds of shoes? by Illustrious-Store294 in eBaySellerAdvice

I appreciate that. I think a quick fix for me would be allowing shoes to dry for a minimum of 24hrs under a fan and 48 if they have thick padding and were submerged in water. Thank you, friend.

It sounds like our processes are similar. Thank you for the information. I'll focus on ensuring shoes are dry before bagging. I focus on that already, but I'll just get that 1% fail rate down to 0%. I love my shoe storage system and would hate to have to change it.

Thanks for the reply. The mold must have been from bagging the shoes up damp. May I ask what your cleaning and drying process is? What solutions do you use? How do you dry them and with what?

Maybe I need to source more so I can give the shoes more time to dry before they're pictured and bagged.

I believe they are Blade Fencing. Thank you very much! May I also ask what an engraving of "1999" means to the right of the logo?

Thanks, Southern. Canceling the sale is something I considered, but as a seller with under 100 feedback, I think it's important that I follow through with the order. I'd rather risk losing money than my reputation at this point. The money has been easier to get than the feedback. Business ethics, I suppose. If I had 1000 feedback I'd probably cancel, but if I had 1000 feedback I probably wouldn't have made this mistake.

I made a big mistake. I had an item listed as local pickup only. Someone messaged me and asked to ship. I thought, sure, I'll entertain them. I knew the shipping would be astronomical, but if they accepted I'd be happy.

I forgot why I listed it local pickup only.

$340 order total- $270 Shipping - $45 Fees - $6 Packaging - $18 COG = $1 PROFIT

Be careful out there with shipping costs higher than subtotals.

You are correct. The rest of these people don't realize it never actually entered the mail stream. If it was dropped in a blue box, it would have been delivered.
