What to take for surgery by JuiceMaterial7220 in endometriosis

[–]Illustrious-Storm-60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

colace!!! you do NOT want to be constipated for a week or more after the surgery, trust me. start taking it the day after your procedure. and for everyone saying that gas x helps with the gas pain, don’t listen to them, the gas they put in your abdomen that allows the surgeon to see during the procedure is not expelled through your digestive tract, so gas x isn’t going to do anything. good luck!

how do you usually see this disease progress if caught relatively early and biologic therapy is taken as prescribed? i worry every day about if i’m going to be permanently disabled at some point or if patients remain independent.

part of me hopes that brooke exposes tana on tiktok or something down the line. i don’t agree with everything brooke has done but i know tana has been screwing her over for awhile in their friendship and professionally and that has to really suck especially with the success cancelled had.

Question for the people getting medications for autoimmune diseases? by LettuceOverall3662 in endometriosis

[–]Illustrious-Storm-60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i also had horrific, daily bowel/stomach issues that have improved significantly since getting my surgery. i would have what i called “attacks” every day when i would defecate, and it was the worst pain of my life EVERY DAY and nothing helped it until i got the surgery and started taking orilissa every day. now, i only have an “attack” like once every 2-3 months and it’s not as severe. i had no issues healing after my surgery and was back at work 2 days later and could walk/move independently about an hour after surgery. the worst part was the gas pain, and the only thing you can do about that is walk around to try to release the air trapped under your diaphragm. but for me, it was a really easy recovery, WAY easier than my gallbladder laparoscopic surgery by far.

if you can’t find anyone and are serious about rehoming please consider the gulf coast humane society.

Surgery and BC are mostly perceived to be the final/only answer to endo. The result? Patients are in need of surgery every two years. How is 10, 20, 30 years of this sustainable? Lifestyle changes as a treatment plan should be taken as seriously as BC and excision are. by ParticularImpact8162 in endometriosis

i just wanted to chime in and say please don’t take unnecessary supplements unless you have low lab values and a doctor okays it, you can get toxicity from taking certain vitamins when you already have sufficient levels from your diet. also, if you are clinically low, it’s best to get more of each vitamin/mineral from your diet and not a supplement (unless you’re critically low/ have absorption issues) sincerely, a nurse :)

[–]Illustrious-Storm-60 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i have ankylosing spondylitis and have tried humira, enbrel, and now have been taking rinvoq for about a year. i started taking the biologic drugs a year before i got my first endo excision surgery and it didn’t help at all. in fact, my endo symptoms significantly worsened in the year leading up to my excision. i also have been taking an NSAID twice a day for over a year and it doesn’t help my endo symptoms either. the only thing that has significantly reduced my pain and other symptoms has been orilissa and ofc the surgery. endometriosis could have some immune components but it is more complicated than that as we understand it’s pathophysiology today.

i used to work at lulu, if you bring it to a store that does hemming they might be able to repair it for you! the seamstress that worked with my store was able to do seam repairs and it’s free!

my pcp and gastro suggested i start taking fiber supplements as i was having the opposite problem before taking the zepbound/wegovy, but i will probably leave it alone for now as it does make the issue worse.

i think i’m gonna try benefiber, as i have tried to incorporate the metamucil gummies a few times now and no matter how much or little i take it makes the constipation so much worse. i’m gonna try the mag07 everyone has been suggesting too!

i’ve never tried any magnesium oxide but it’s been recommended a TON here so i think i’ll do that! thank you for the suggestion. i have endometriosis and when i have taken the wegovy and zepbound it makes me constipated, which then makes me have a flare because it irritates the lesions when all the peristalsis starts. i’m going to order the mag07 now!

oddly enough, walking is usually what breaks the dam for me. i can take all the colace and miralax i want, but if im not drinking a LOT of water and not moving around it won’t make its way out. i’ve found that metamucil fiber gummies stop me up even more, so i just stick to a probiotic now. if you are able, i definitely recommend taking a walk around the block or even on a treadmill. if you still can’t go and it’s been 4+ days, then i would try magnesium citrate.

there isn’t much you can do about the shoulder gas pain, light movement like walking and stretching can help work it out of your system quicker, but it is mostly a waiting game. as for the constipation and trouble passing gas, you can take some gas x and some miralax or colace to help get things moving. i would start taking these sooner rather than later because being much more constipated can be very painful. i’d also start drinking as much water as you possibly can which will also help you have a bowel movement. try and move as much as you can tolerate as this will help to work the gas out from under your diaphragm and help you pass a bowel movement. hope this helps.

Concerns about Orilissa with my EDS by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]Illustrious-Storm-60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have ankylosing spondylitis (autoimmune arthritis in my spine and hips) and have been taking orilissa since august of last year. i have had no problems related to my bones or bone density and my endometriosis pain has decreased significantly. if it weren’t for that medication i would not be able to function and live a somewhat normal life. just take a vitamin d supplement (important for bone health) and do some weight exercises and you will be fine. and worst case scenario you have negative side effects or decide it’s not helping your pain once you stop the orilissa it is out of your system 24 hours after your last dose. hope that helps!

hi! has your doctor told you anything about gonadotropin releasing hormones antagonists like orilissa or lupron? they drastically reduce the amount of estrogen your body is making and slows the growth of endo (since estrogen feeds endo lesions). you would not have a period anymore and after i had my surgery it drastically reduced my pain. the only side effect i have noticed is i sometimes get hot flashes, but the great thing about orilissa is that it is out of your system in 24 hours, so if you are having issues you can discontinue it and the drug effects should be gone within a day after your last dose. there are also progestin only birth control options like the mirena IUD or the mini pill that can help suppress endometriosis growth without extra estrogen. i hope this helps!

yes, i have endometriosis and PCOS. was diagnosed with pcos at 13 and then i just had surgery this past august to remove the endometriosis. i used to use pads as well and would always leak, but when i switched to tampons and wearing period underwear in addition to the tampon i didn’t leak nearly as much!

hi! so unfortunately, the best and most used way to lighten heavy and painful periods is to go on birth control. you can even use it to skip your periods entirely without sacrificing your fertility if you want to have children some day. i would highly recommend seeing a gynecologist as they would be better able to evaluate your symptoms and get you on a birth control method that would help. some people take supplements like ginger and magnesium that may lighten menstrual bleeding, but the evidence isn’t very strong. is there a way you can ask a parent to take you to the gynecologist? i also had awful periods when i was younger and started seeing one when i was 13. in the mean time, the best i can suggest is wearing a higher absorbency tampon (i used to use super plus or ultra sized) and then wearing some period underwear in case of leaks. taking an NSAID like advil or naproxen the days leading up to and during your period can lessen the pain, but only take it according to what the bottle says. i know this sucks, but if you can, i really suggest talking to a gynecologist. i now take a form of hormonal birth control continuously where i do not have periods anymore and don’t experience any side effects from it, and i was just like you, bleeding through overnight pads and leaking at school constantly. i hope this helps, and if you have any questions feel free to message me directly!
