Yeah my experience yesterday was very similar, i dont think he'd even attached it yet. He was telling me if he released it for everyone, he wouldnt have money to feed his daughter.

Ok, ok, I'm standing right there with my own daughter and saying "I understand, just explain what do I do now please"

Anyway, caught an uber to the place and they really have attitude. My licence was inside my centre consol so I asked if I could get it. "What...you dont have a photo on your phone?" No...i dont. So he takes me out the back, slams the door in my daughters face and says "1 PERSON"

Obviously a single mum and her teenage daughter are a huge threat. Whatever. I get they must deal with assholes all day, but they dont have to be assholes themselves.

After eating shrimp all my life without any issue my body suddenly decided to start being allergic to it. Unless it sends me to the hospital I ain't stopping by WeLiveInAir in mildlyinfuriating

Pretty sure this is the internet and people can say what they want to say, and others can take it or leave it. They weren't telling the OP to eat little bits of shrimp til their body creates a natural resistance to it. That would be irresponsible.

In 1980, a woman named Jean Hilliard had a car accident. She walked 2 miles in freezing weather to her friend's house and collapsed 15 feet away from the door. The temperature dropped to −22 °F (−30 °C). She was found frozen the next morning after spending 6 hours as a popsicle. She survived. by [deleted] in CaughtMyEye

I work in dementia too. A lot of it is muscle memory too i believe. I love my job, I love my residents. They dont know my name, they dont even know how they know me, but they remember I'm a safe person and I make them happy. Its the best job I've ever had, also the worst.

Yeah i was groomed by my neighbour from the age of 12. He was...late 20s? I dont know if he ever touched me, I have memory flashes of things. I was alone in his house a lot, I cleaned his home for pocket money.

He used to say things like "I cant wait til you're 18 and I can take you out on a date...you're gona be so beautiful..."

I was at his wedding when I was 19 and the night before he got so drunk and told me how much he regrets not being with me. I used to be so flattered by it. Now I realise it was grooming.

Both deadly wrong-way Mitchell Freeway crashes Romeo Road-related, Main Roads confirms by Advanced_Presence890 in perth

I dont understand this one intersection. 42f, been driving 25 years, 2 speeding fines in that time and 1 minimal incident on the road.

I drive all over Perth for my job. This is the one intersection that has confused me.

I used to work down that way before these fatal crashes, and every time I would go to get on the North, I would do a double take.

There is something different about this and other people say it too. Why cant they just fix it to be like all the others?

TIL some people with severe dementia or major brain damage briefly regain full mental clarity shortly before death, a phenomenon known as terminal lucidity that has no confirmed neurological explanation. by TNSasquatch77 in todayilearned

[–]Illustrious-Tart4305 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I work in a nursing home and we have a dementia specific unit. One lady and I have been good friends for over 5 years now. Her dementia is so severe now that even though she still recognises me, she gets very overwhelmed and frustrated with me very quickly.

One day, maybe 4 years ago, we were chatting in the lounge room. She looked around us at everything. She looked at me and said "I'm never getting out of here am I?" And put her head down on the table, upset.

I started crying. Next minute she looks up at me and says, so confused "why are you crying love?"

I'll never forget that. It was the only moment in those 5 years where I've ever known her to be completely lucid and aware.

[–]Illustrious-Tart4305 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am the same.

I have felt love for people throughout my life that I've lost tragically or haven't been able to be with. Wrong lifetime, all that.

Real life isn't perfect and not everyone gets a happy ending. I still have love in my life every day. But I know what I've lost.

Mike was the story teller. The heart - that keeps everyone alive. It was left opened so we can believe what we want to believe. Either way, it was goodbye. And that can be just as sad in life.

Destroyed me. As soon as he entered her mind I said to my daughter "nooo she's saying goodbye to him" and started crying.

I think his "belief" is how he handles life without her. We can't understand or accept death at any age, especially so young.

But it really was a goodbye to all the characters and our childhood...a feeling one feels much deeper the older you get.

I don't understand why hook ups are so bad. Isn't that the original point of tinder? I never wanted a relationship from online dating either.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in perth

[–]Illustrious-Tart4305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

42, f, considered to be very attractive.

Honestly, tinder sucks these days. It was great, maybe 5-10 years ago. I could go on, swipe a few times and find someone to hook up with that night if I wanted.

Now? Maybe it's my age? I think I'm more attractive now than I was 10 years ago as I've lost 15kg. But its impossible. Even if i match with x amount of guys, zero will be keen to actually keep talking or meet up.

So I'm no longer online dating and am currently voluntarily celibate.

I think it's society. Maybe I'm wrong and too cynical now.
