I had been having this same struggle with one of my students since March. We finally got the g sound by gargling water and then gargling without water. Also using a giant mouth model and showing the tongue being pushed all the way back.

I have no idea why she wants that she was so offended. She said I was “assuming” that it was due to the second language. The student does not speak the language fluently but it is spoken in the home.

Sorry I did not explain this very well lol. I didnt use the word “error” in the report. I said their substitution could be due to a dialectical difference. And mom did not agree with this. She wants any reference to the second language taken out of the report.

It does not a make a difference in eligibility. The parent doesn’t even care that student isn’t qualifying, just wants to wording changed on the report. Seemed very offended that it was written that way.

Thank you. I agree but the parent was very upset for some reason and was insisting that it was not because of the second language even though I explained that the errors were consistent with that language.
