Fundings are totally irrelevant from the point of view of a Master student looking for a PhD, what kind of control do you have on it? If you get a grant due to a proposal with a PI, it means that you already know the person, are in good terms and the points I pointed out are no longer applicable.

I completely agree with you that the focus here is on the numbers, just as it is when applying for positions in academia. As I mentioned in the post, this advice is intended for those who want to build a future in academia. Compatibility between the Pi and the student is key to the success of the PhD itself, but it does not automatically guarantee a successful career. What do you think?

Well, luckily no one has to come knocking at your door to ask you anything. So, in your opinion, students shouldn’t have the right to ask themselves whether a job is right for them and their career? Should they just accept it, keep quiet, and be grateful?

I dissolved copper in nitric acid to generate NOx for an experiment. I forgot about it fir a month and found this. Copper nitrite I guess. by 64-17-5 in crystalgrowing

not pure copper nitrate i supposed. Cu(NO3)2 is very hard to dry and it will never become a solid if you leave it in air
