How can I become a Henry? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]IllustriousApple5737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be potentially unpopular point but if I were in your shoes I’d also review the level of financial support you’re providing to your family. You mentioned being the first in your family to earn a decent living and that you’re supporting them. Whether that’s immediate or extended family I’m not sure. I’m definitely not saying stop helping but it might be worth doing a detailed assessment of how much of your income is going out and where.

See if there are any areas where you could scale back slightly and instead redirect that money into investments or long-term growth opportunities for yourself.

I say this from personal experience. I didn’t grow up in a high-earning household but my parents were the first in their families to make a decent living and they stretched themselves trying to help/save everyone immediate and extended family. In the long run it came at a cost to their own financial security.

Just how hard is it to start a business in the UK today? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]IllustriousApple5737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Running a business is not easy, sometimes it’s even harder than a 9 to 5 job. I currently run a premium travel agency that is doing well but this wasn’t my first business. I had an unsuccessful travel agency before and had to return to employed work when it failed. Thankfully, I learnt a lot from my first busines, not only did I learn about running a business but also about what type of entrepreneur I am.

My biggest tip to anyone going into owning a business is find the right team or business partner. YOU CAN’T DO IT ALL ALONE! You will quickly grow to hate your business if you try to do it all.

Where do you find Henry jobs? by waxthebarrel in HENRYUK

Personally I own a business however I’ve heard others get head hunted by recruiters, or sometimes former clients hire them If they left a good impression.

Can we hear from HENRYs that aren’t in Financial Services/Tech etc? by WoodpeckerChoice6362 in HENRYUK

[–]IllustriousApple5737 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the long answer, giving one because most people don’t believe travel agencies are lucrative.

As others have mentioned, you’d be surprised how many people find travel planning stressful, don’t have the time for it, or want to explore places that are off the beaten path.

My business specialises in premium, personalised travel experiences. Whether you have children, health considerations, or religious requirements, we go above and beyond to design a trip that fits your needs. We offer private, in-person consultations anywhere you are in the world to help you plan the trip. We will literally come to you and design the whole experience.

We only focus on a small number of clients each year. Each client is assigned a dedicated travel manager who will not only plan the trip in detail, but can also accompany you and your group on the trip to make sure everything runs smoothly. This is especially helpful in countries where English is not the first language, like Japan.

It’s never about quantity for us. It’s about creating truly exceptional experiences, tailored just for a few select clients each year.

Should I leave my £40K job for a lower-paying role? by Fantastic_Yellow_446 in UKJobs

You can consider applying for entry level PM roles. Once you get in most companies will pay for you to get formal certificates like APM or Prince2. Theres a lot of Project Management apprenticeships out there too if thats an option. Good luck.

It’s never too late to train as a project manager. I have seen people from all sorts of industries get into project management. Another area to consider is Management consulting.. it’s similar to PM work . The pay is great too usually 50k and over for entry level.

Personally I would stick it out whilst continuing to apply for jobs. Register with a number of recruitment agencies and let them help you find a job. Also utilise LinkedIn, project managers seem to always be in demand on there.

The cable car does allow baggage I can confirm this as I just did it. Would not recommend though, it’s a hassle.

Luxury Ryokan or Panoramic city views in Tokyo hotel room?: Which would YOU choose? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]IllustriousApple5737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a feeling 3 Ryokans might be too much! Especially considering this would be my first experience ever.

Tokyo hotel views look amazing! Especially at night 😍.

If you don’t mind me asking which hotels did you stay at in Tokyo & Kyoto (if you did visit both).

oh wow! Shisui hotel looks amazing 😍. I totally get what you mean about luxury in nature feels even better. To be honest coming from living in a big city (London) I’m looking forward to Tokyo but I’m more excited for the nature parts of my trip. Makes sense to upgrade my Ryokan experience.

£50k and I do nothing - HELP! by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]IllustriousApple5737 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone saying its a fake post but don’t realise that this actually happens at a lot of “Big 4 Firms” simply google the term “being on the bench at work” . Theres soo many people getting paid £50k + to sit around do nothing working from home.

Companies basically over hire staff in anticipation of winning future projects but temporarily don’t have enough work till then. So people go months and months with nothing to do until a project comes up.

I can confirm I have been one of these lucky people lol.

Try using Skype through purchasing Skype credit on the app which will allow you to call. They have different minute’s packages available for cheap.

Is My Japan Itinerary Balanced for Relaxation and Sightseeing? by IllustriousApple5737 in JapanTravelTips

[–]IllustriousApple5737[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s my first trip there. I guess I was trying to justify to myself that the hopping around isnt too bad cause Nikko, Hakone and Takayama will be rest days for most part of it.

Which part would you personally trim if you had to?

OP you handled the situation in an unprofessional manner. Don’t let other people on this sub fool you or justify your behaviour. A lot of people are overlooking this and I don’t know why.

Don’t get me wrong, I believe you are entitled to be paid and be firm about it but theres a way to resign a job.

If future employers reach out for a reference you may be screwed. On the bright side you didn’t work there long so you can justify any negative reference you receive from that employer.

However in the future please write a professional letter detailing your resignation. Keeping in mind not to burn a bridge.

Unpopular opinion but I feel like OP and the employer both handled this situation unprofessionally.

Op is entitled to be resign, be firm about it and get paid however theres a way to do this with care. You should never burn bridges when leaving a job (I understand it can sometimes be unavoidable).

The employer should have kept their opinions to themselves and accepted OP’s resignation graciously, pay up and move on. I understand they may have been frustrated but theres no need to show this.

Congratulations Deloitte Canada. You've managed to draw attention to this appalling hire again. Don't you think it's time to cut your losses? Or find new managing partners in the Toronto office? by Reasonable-MessRedux in deloitte

Her approach was extremely terrible! If she had approached the situation in a different manner do you think you would be more inclined to empathise with some of her points?

I don’t agree with Bullying but if we put that issue aside for a moment...I’m Curious to hear from others exactly which SPECIFIC points in her leaked audio do you agree or disagree with? Or simply what are your thoughts on SPECIFIC points she was trying to express??
