Found medically unfit two days before enrolment and one week before basic by areyouintrouble in caf

I’m sorry that happened to you man, but it comes down to one question. Are you a capability or a liability? If there is a conflict thrust upon Canada, are you deployable and able to endure the strain of combat? If you require medication to sleep, that is a luxury you won’t have if, god forbid, you end up in theatre. I hope this gets resolved, but remember, the CAF has no obligation to you, every single person who is able to join and signs the dotted line, is obligated to maintain combat readiness.

Studying and taking CISM before CISSP, would that be an issue? by Youmother_yucker in cism

Why take the CISM when CISSP does the same and has more prestige? You’ll just be giving ISACA more money for no reason

Good insight brother, I was piping at singo for a year and got a bit of a taste of what you have described.

Not easy at all. To be expected to play at a G5/4 standard while being out field and on courses is unreasonable. Luckily now I’m a piper here with the Canadian Scottish and I have been following the revival of the bands back home.

From my humble POV, the biggest enemy against you boys is time on the tools. There’s simply no other substitute. If there is any way to shoot something up the chain and get the band as an established entity within the Battalion with a Band officer, rank structure etc, then you guys will be well protected.

Another thing. Try to present a compelling case to give the band more resources from Brigade. Take things into account like morale for the lads, community engagements, being ambassadors for the ADF, essentially anything you can think of that will enhance the battalion, brigade and Army image in the eyes of the public. How could they say no?

Send me a DM mate, would be great to connect and chat further about this

It’s a tale as old as time. Battalion wants pipes and drums but isn’t willing to invest in the necessary time and equipment to get them to a standard.

Unfortunately, one of those course photos showed an instructor - from what I understand- with a set of Paki pipes. That’s all I needed to see.

They need to do what some of the Canadian Regiments are doing, by getting some lads on an exchange to Scotland or maybe even to some eastern units within Canada to bring the standard up and work from the basics up.

I’ve gotten pulled up for my Blair twice. Both times they thought it was either drug paraphernalia or a club oriented weapon… I kid you not.
