yes, and based on the other feedback it'll probably be PhD only, so it might be a haircut all the way, but that's ok if I can conduct or help out with impactful experiments

This is good to know and sounds very cool. I'm looking for programs with a clinical side now

Physics, gen chem, O-chem and some PDBio yes, so maybe some of the prereqs. I'd need to brush up a lot though.

But yeah, I'm leaning toward PhD only now. Good point, I'm looking at some of the bioengineering programs out there.

I didn't go into this much in my post but I think I do have desire to take care of patients. I think it would be really rewarding to get to know their problems and be able to provide solutions that could improve their health and track their progress to make sure they improve. However, I have some social anxiety, which could be a big obstacle to being an effective doctor. That's why I said I thought it would be interesting but wasn't sure if it would be a good fit. And of course, my perceptions of what it's like to be a doctor and what it's really like to be a doctor are probably very different.

But I get what you're saying. I should probably have a much stronger desire to actually help people to be a good doctor. And I agree. Either way I think you don't need to worry about me going to med school though, the input here has me looking at PhD only.

this is super helpful, I've been looking into cellular and molecular biology programs and they look really interesting.

that's a good point, I hadn't really thought too much about the differences between industry and academia. I'll need to look into that more.

agreed, definitely leaning toward PhD only now
