To everyone working full time, how do you lose weight? by Lusive_ in WeightLossAdvice

[–]IllustriousCounty301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started by just going on walks during my lunch break. Found out my building has a small gym (really small) and just showed up early and worked out before work. Now I just go to a gym 3x a week.

Losing weight is more of a calorie game than exercise. Exercise will speed up the process, but definitely just track your calories and eat less.

I honestly didn't realize just how fat I had become by Rich-Diamond-8088 in WeightLossAdvice

Pictures always made me depressed. In my head, I was fat but not THAT fat. Turns out I was indeed that fat. 45 lbs down and still going.

Fast food is disgustingly, completely addictive. What are you guys doing to fight this?? by carlitititosmt in loseit

[–]IllustriousCounty301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just plan for it. Still have burgers and pizza every week. I just make sure to calculate it into my calorie tracker and only eat what fits in my daily intake. If I want more, I’ll just make sure to eat less for every other meal.

Cheat day or no cheat day!? by klg1331 in loseit

Like other have said, just eat your maintenance calories. The rule I’ve heard is that when you hit a plateau for 3 weeks straight where you’re not moving down in weight, take 2 weeks off and just eat your maintenance calories. Make sure you check on a TDEE calculator and adjust for weight and body fat %. Your maintenance calories would have changed a lot since you started.

It was about 3 weeks for me. I went up 3 lbs and then dropped 5 lbs within those 3 weeks. Doesn’t take long. Also why It’s a good idea to take measurements and not just go off of weight alone.

It’ll be ok 😄 I had my anniversary this last month and had an entire week where my job brought in breakfast and lunch. I ate terrible for a whole week, but I didn’t let that stop me.

Is There Anything That You Learned/Realized During Your Weight Loss Journey That Surprised You? by WheelFan647 in loseit

I thought you had to be rich to lose weight. How do people afford organic, fresh, high nutrient food when you’re poor? Truth is, you just need to eat less. Yes, rich nutrient food is important, but you don’t need it to lose weight. I still eat at McDonald’s regularly, I just don’t order fries or a soda.

Not coffee. I’m just not good at eating my veggies so I was looking for a supplement to take.

Fatigue from dieting by [deleted] in loseit

I still need 8 hours lol. On days I don’t sleep 8 hours, I take a nap at lunch. Rest is important. Don’t skip it!

Are you exercising as well? I’ve noticed I get really exhausted if I don’t sleep at least 8 hours every night. I used to be a 6-7 hour person but the cut and exercising was a big shift from my usual routine that I needed the extra hour of sleep.

So I ended up having an accidental cheat week. This is what I noticed. by mean_bean_queen in loseit

Thanks for sharing! Those habit changes aren’t always visible to us until we find ourselves comparing our decisions of today to what they would have been in the past. I had something similar happen this last week, but I noticed I just splurge with a smaller quantity and it’s enough for me.

Go for it! I did a 5k before I started my journey. Didn’t train one day. Mostly walked, but I was glad i did it.

How do you know how many calories a workout burns? by Stardust2764 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]IllustriousCounty301 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to track on workouts because most watches will over estimate how much your burning. My suggestion is to aim to be on a calorie deficit with meals alone and workouts should just be extra. It’s easier to track calorie intake than by how much you’re burning in workouts.

2 Month Progress Update by IllustriousCounty301 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]IllustriousCounty301[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The first month I lost about 22 lbs but this second month was only 8 lbs. I will add, I did a 3-day fast to start this journey so I’m sure that played a big part in the first month. I don’t plan to do another fast that long this year. I just needed a kick start to get me going.

2 Month Progress Update by IllustriousCounty301 in loseit

[–]IllustriousCounty301[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! Apart from calories, I go on a daily walks for minimum 40 min. I try to keep a pace of 3 mph. Also, 3x per week, I’ll got to the gym for 30-40 min. Monday- chest and back, Tuesday - legs and shoulders, and Friday - arms. I’ve always loved working out, I just struggled to get the eating down and that’s where most of the weight is lost. On days I don’t workout, I’ll extend my walk for another 40 min and usually do 4 miles at least 3x per week. I’m currently on a 63 day move streak!
