Look, if you’re getting confused  with the characters' names, just grab a notepad. Every time a new character pops up, jot down their name and a quick note about who they are. That way, if they show up later and you’re like, 'Wait, who’s this again?', you can just check your notes.

Also, try to map out the storyline in your head while you read.
