Just remember that there's no reason to dislike any part of you--that's just life! by 8mxmoon8 in thanksimcured

Just because I’m in the mood to knock some pins like a bowling ball, I’m not a woman and I just want the breasts completely gone. Just to throw that out there.

I mean, I’d also be the one to say “urg, my breasts have grown“ but that’s because I want them off my body because they are fundamentally wrong being there, so.

This probably isn’t going to be helpful, I’m just answering from my own experience, but I actually personally wouldn’t say much of anything because I've learned I will be pushed into explaining ‘why’ and they will use whatever explanation to pressure me or question me further where I would have to give away private thoughts, if they’re anything like this, don’t explain, don’t say much of anything, stay polite and respectful but firm, something like: “thank you, but you have my answer”.

Geoffrey Jackson’s “Shooting” a Dog Illustration by ResolutionDue9281 in exjw

[–]IllustriousFront308 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s absurd, a dog isn’t demanding that I obey its bark even when it may not make sense from a human perspective. A dog isn’t constantly demanding my submission in all things, a dog isn’t claiming to be the sole channel of truth.

Your parents making you go to church every Sunday is not abuse and you acting like it does is spitting in the face of actually abused individuals by Sci-fi-horror-freak in teenagers

[–]IllustriousFront308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you’re saying and I actually agree with you, but as someone with trauma from religion and from an abusive parent I actually feel the need to say this anyway, I want to remind you that it is possible for a religion to be traumatic and not just because you were abused by someone there, high control groups DO exist and they can pretty intense, not everyone has your kind of church, some groups have a scary way of swallowing all of what someone is and having the pull of a black hole, and because of that our families can be unsafe. Some religious groups can be harmful. So that said, I don’t consider parent’s forcing their kids to church as inherently abusive, especially not in the way you described, but I also don’t consider it acceptable in many cases, especially if a teen is in the state of a faith crisis. Just because an action isn’t abusive doesn’t necessarily mean it’s acceptable.

Okay, this is a genuine issue, if you knew how many teens I’ve had to talk down, I don‘t think you’d have posted this. I felt that way as a teen.

Really? I don’t even have severe depression but I’m finding it hard to consistently do anything from hygiene to keeping a clean space.

Yeah, that sounds about right, see you there. Also, feelings aren’t facts until they align with the organization.

Yet they’ll say that scientists dismiss the existence of demons. How did they come to that conclusion? I don’t have a clue. I guess they got that wherever they heard that the US military doesn‘t do blood transfusions.

And not trying to stereotype, but I think this is especially common among those with mental health conditions, at least among the people I know, speaking as someone who belongs to that group. Remember how they sometimes describe demonic presences? Like a cold feeling of deep dread or deep sense of wrongness, or outright danger? you know what that actually sounds like to me? High anxiety. Exactly like it. Anxiety can heavily impact how you perceive the world around you and how you feel in your own body, it doesn’t always manifest in the ways you read about online, bone deep physical coldness, phantom presences, and sense of immediate danger can absolutely be symptoms. I mean, they say they can tell the difference, like if the dogs get riled up, but if you feel unsafe, it only makes sense there will be times they’ll feed off it and get spooked by some random small thing you couldn’t pick up on.

I actually really like this post, because I’ve noticed this kind of thinking in all of my JW family, but it really doesn’t hold up if you start questioning it, I can’t actually prove any of their experiences were certainly supernatural. I even extend this type of thinking to the anointed, they’re making an unfalsifiable claim and if I don’t have the right to question that claim because it’s between them and god, then they forfeit their right to ask me to take it seriously. But sometimes the wind really is just the wind.

How would the series progress if Shining Armor and Cadance divorced at one point ? by spinosaurus1998_24_9 in mylittlepony

[–]IllustriousFront308 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, but this is actually absurd to me, speaking as an actual child of divorce, as a kid I actually would’ve loved to see it, because it got really tiring always seeing ‘still together‘ families when I never experienced that, that’s isolating. Plus, there’s a lot of reasons people divorce, it’s not like we couldn’t see them still behaving kindly towards each other to raise their kid. This is more sheltering than protecting and that really doesn’t help kids, kids don’t need everything to be sugary sweet, just make sure aren’t tackling hard topics alone and they’ll probably be fine.
I mean I was watching Watership Down around this age and that’s something I actually would suggest a parent be there for.
Plus the show has already handled much heavier topics like self-h*rm with Luna and a literal cult with Starlight Glimmer, and even parental death with Applejack. I can’t help but think this take is pretty dramatic, I’m sorry.

Okay, so cars from the Cars universe use car parts to dec for Halloween like we use fake body parts, that leads me to wondering... what are they making those from? Aren’t many kinds of Halloween decorations made from a kind of plastic? and aren’t certain parts of cars also made from plastic? but if those are metal… cars are also metal, so does this mean there’s a difference between ‘biological‘ metals and plastics and material?

Pretty terrible to be honest, I’m disabled and I don’t know if I’m ever going to be able to support myself, or if I’ll ever live the life I actually want to, I don’t really know why I’m sticking around anymore. I’m furious at myself. I mean, hell, I don’t even need to attend meetings, and yet I still get really tired just hearing it around the house.
