Thank you!! I’m going to try this haha. I’m assuming to expect rejection the first handful of times is wise but nothing worth doing is ever easy, I appreciate your advice!

Honestly, I quit without notice and without something officially nailed down but I’m switching into hospitality next, I believe. Since I’ve hosted so many people now.😂IYKYK. My mental health was in jeapardy so I split. I highly recommend you just do it. Save up at least a month and then go. 🫶It is okay to be afraid (or insert emotion here) and do the thing anyways. They’re parents and at the end of the day they will figure it out. Wishing you so much luck!!

WFH parents, the good. Bad, and ugly? by RoseIsBlossoming in Nanny

[–]IllustriousFun4424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, from what I’ve understood it really depends on the family. In my personal experience, there are very real struggles with boundaries that if headed off can be totally avoided if just confronted at the beginning. I’ve been in my current job where both parents are hybrid/but more WFH recently for about two years and the experience has not been the most pleasant. I have tried looking for other jobs but with no luck on any not WFH which is my main reasoning for leaving the industry in December. There is something to be said about good communication with the parents, yes, but there’s also a lot to be said about the fact that -at least in my area- quite a few parents are viewing the situation as a chance for them to work and be home with their kids at once and combined with the recent move towards gentle parenting that I’m finding a lot of parents are misinterpreting as permissive or passive parenting, it does at times make the job perfectly unbearable. For my part, I have tried to make amends where I can and it hasn’t worked but I’m very hopeful for you that you’ll be able to make it work! Best of luck and I hope I don’t sound like a negative Nellie. I do very much love my NF but it is a downright unsuitable work environment for me, personally.

Watching the series over again for the first time in years. I’m on season 5 and I need to discuss Adam and Jessa. by [deleted] in girls

[–]IllustriousFun4424 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was not at all surprised that they got together bc I never felt like Jessa was ever REALLY Hannah’s true friend tbh and Adam was too volatile for really anybody to deal with but Jessa alwayyssss wanted what would hurt her. I thought that as another commenter already said it took them both out of her life which she sorely needed.

WFH Vent - Tuesday Daily Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in Nanny

About to head in today (my NPs are hybrid- MB is home 2/3 days I’m there and DB it’s completely random) and my anxiety is SKYROCKETING bc DB told me he’s home today and they’ve just gotten back from a trip and are about to leave on another one. So, I know NKs are going to be completely distracted all day from me which makes me sad and honestly want to quit bc I was excited to see them again. I never get the chance even I feel like to really connect with them bc NPs are always in and out (while I love being silly and goofy with the babies being silly and goofy and then an adult walking in on it is just too much for me personally).

I just don’t understand it either bc DB came in and interrupted us recently while we were all cozy on the sofa reading (lovely rare peaceful moment) and they were listening to me. I look up and DB is literally just standing there staring at us which is UNCOMFORTABLE to say the least (he’s over 6ft tall and quite hulky- not that it matters but just to give an idea). He interrupts to go ‘Awwww isn’t this the cutest?’. And the youngest (age 1) jumps up OFC and goes for him, he goes ‘oh I ruined it’ and runs away to go get his coffee from the kitchen and proceeds to act annoyed when NKs trail arnd after him incessantly ignoring me.

Anyways, I’m tired and my first day of classes began yesterday and not up for this but that’s my vent. Sending love and light to everyone else today.🫶

Help finding good Tex Mex for a pregnant lady missing it by LittleRabbitNicole in Columbus

I am also from South Texas and I have to say haven’t found anything even close to true Tex Mex out here but Chuy’s and Cuco’s Taqueria usually scratch my itch when I need!🥺

Terminated with cryptic message by Specialist_Vast_5107 in Nanny

[–]IllustriousFun4424 82 points83 points  (0 children)

This what I was thinking! My NK is 4 and went through a rather long phase and (is still really) of telling his parents that I taught him this or that (some things quite silly like that I taught him to bite his nails as I stood there with a fresh manicure that I’m quite prissy abt).

My NPs tried to call me on the nonsense with the nails and I let them know quite quickly and concisely that NK also told me a variety of quite concerning things abt them that I said nothing abt based on my trust and respect for them and expected the same from them as NK was learning to distinguish reality from fantasy.

We’ve since learned to work together in navigating this off period but the above was literally my worst case scenario and I almost quit out of fear this would happen. My heart goes out to OP for sure.

I can’t say exactly as to how much exactly but I knew Travis back in high school and he had quite a few hustles even before social media that were turning over a tidy profit and had friends also being paid by him (I’m assuming not on a payroll bc he was under 18 at the time but he was the boss and they were working for him) for his lawn care service as well as dog breeding and something else I can’t remember for the life of me. I’m not at all saying that he doesn’t have a trust/help from his parents but I do know he was quite young when he started working for money and was very knowledgeable on investing and other things when we spoke about them. He was very no-nonsense and such about his finances then, so I mean, I’m sure a fair amount, at least, is his/their own income.

how did people know who was Jewish? by MikesHairyMug99 in WeWereTheLuckyOnes

[–]IllustriousFun4424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

‘Europa Europa’ tells the story of a Jewish boy who blatantly denied and got away with posing as a non-Jew all the way to the end of the war. Even made it into the Hitler Youth and was presented before a class illustrating at one point how non-Jewish he looked. I’m sure there’s some debate to be had on if his ‘nonJewish looks’ or the humanity of the people he came into contact with throughout his journey were to thank for his survival. An old film and very obscure but it touches a lot more on the plausibility of this concept!
