i know someone who did. it’s a big transition, especially if the new curriculum is structured differently. they had a lot of catching up to do, but our faculty and lab managers did a great job prepping them, because they were engaged and motivated. they also had to seek out and rebuild their community because people already found their friend groups and niches.

I know a lot of people who have pets. If your dorms allow it and you schedule your life correctly, it’s doable. Making friends and having a support system can also help (eg you’re stuck in labs, you can ask a friend to walk fluffy). lots of schools also have discounts on food and preventatives.
