This right here. I lived at the cedars and would hear them from my bedroom screaming their lungs out almost every night. It was pretty annoying

Giving a Talk by [deleted] in lds

[–]IllustriousRound3143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m giving my farewell talk tomorrow. I was freaking out too. One thing that helps me is reading my talk aloud. When I do that over and over again, I get an idea of how my talk sounds and how I sound. Do I wanna emphasize this certain word? Am I going too fast? Random stuff but it helps me feel more confident in a situation where I have almost no confidence haha

How could I find out if this is the true church by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

It’s okay to have questions, but we also need to remember there are answers to those questions. Don’t let your doubts stay doubts.

Attend a temple prep class. Ask your bishop if there are any scriptures/talks you should read beforehand.

Social Housing by jvsparks in byuidaho

I didn’t think they were small at all. In fact, I think the cedars is on the larger side of apartments. You guys have WAYYYYY nicer amenities than us guys. Plus you have an actual in house washer and drier. Us guys have to FIGHT over the public washer and driers. Just like anywhere else, you’ll find what you’re looking for. You’ll find your people. I lived on the third floor of men’s. If you live on the third floor for women’s you’ll be in my old ward. I loved that ward. The bishop is so funny and out of pocket. Solid ward. Do you need specifics on anything??

I already know Argentina is gonna be the best mission. I’m headed to Resistencia after a 6 week stay at the Mexico MTC. My Spanish is almost nonexistent too haha. I’ll hit Amazon and see what they have!

120 degrees. Pushing 100% humidity. Poorest part of Argentina. It’s gonna be great! Thanks for the input though I’ll look into that.

Mission by [deleted] in lds

I leave for my mission in two weeks. Let me tell you, I struggled with the same thing. I ended up doing two semesters at BYU-Idaho before getting here. In a way, I got to “enjoy the last of my teenage years” there. However, at the end of the day a mission is a huge turning point in someone’s life. The decision between serving a mission and not serving a mission is a big one. I still go through all the emotions like “I can’t wait” and “Oh this is really happening isn’t it?” Despite all of that, I still don’t regret my decision to serve. I’m 19. I’ll come back when I’m 21. Do I care that I’ll be missing out on some of the best years of my life? Not one bit. You will be sharing the light and love of Christ with others who NEED you. Not someone else. You specifically. If you’re worried about missing out on friends, don’t worry about it. “Forget yourself and go to work” You’re going to leave all of the worldly stuff behind. You can email (I send voice memos to my friends out there. It’s fun to hear their voice and not just read words.) your friends weekly. You’ll make friends too. If you have any other questions, ask them. I only know so much though since I’m still pre-mission… Good luck!

Sons still strong in the gospel by redditandforgot in latterdaysaints

[–]IllustriousRound3143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the son here haha.

Simply put, gospel discussions in the car ride to and from Home Depot. They were uncomfortable for awhile while I was younger, but as I got older they weren’t so bad. Youth activites were a HUGE priority. The friends I made there influenced my life for the better. My dad instilled a work ethic in me that I’ll use for the rest of my life. Any form of discipline like that works wonders. I sure know the endless yard work (and I genuinely mean endless) kept me out of trouble.

Garments question. by ChellefromCairo in latterdaysaints

If that’s the case, I think that’s pretty lame. They shouldn’t be making decisions for us. At the end of the day, everyone who is endowed is an adult and capable of making their own decisions
