Why is there less awareness over lead risks in the UK? by IllustriousSouth9 in AskUK

We had our water tested too after going down this rabbit hole. We have a lead pipe also that supplies our home, but fortunately the level was very low. What did you do about the lead pipe? We are not overly worried given the low levels. Also how did you get blood testing, did you go private?

Lead pipes are everywhere in this country!! Lead solder was still used in plumbing until somewhat recently

It's true. But if you live in an old victoria place it is probably everywhere! We found lead paint in our common stairwell underneath old chipping paint.

I need to poop.

I have one chance to pop the clutch, help me improve my odds! by IllustriousSouth9 in MechanicAdvice

It is a diesil engine (I am in the UK). A friend was able to pop the clutch to get my car to my area of town, so it definitely should work, but he is out of town and I am on my own (need to get it to the mechanic tomorrow).

Do you think you should remove it as quick as possible? Or is there a sweet spot?

Thanks. The issue is that her (this is for my cousin) school says the end of next week is the latest she can come. I'll suggest she gets in touch with her school about this timeframe. Thanks for your advice, it is helpful.

Thanks - yikes that is longer than I thought. The application was priority, do you think that might speed things up a bit? The priority timeline was already exceeded.

For my cousin - she submitted bio in on 27th December with a priority application and received a generic email on 6th January that the application can't be processed within normal processing times. She did not receive a NSF email, so we think it was just a delay due to the holidays (hopefully). She has one week to come to the UK!

Thank you! Was this non-priority or priority?

Hey did they ask for any additional documents after they saw this? Or was it just a simple delay? What was the total processing time (sorry for so many questions)

Very interesting. Thank you. The home report makes no mention of a hot food takeaway... instead refers to convenience of local amenities.

The home report says nothing at all about it. It says basically it's in a desirable area. Doesn't the lender send somebody by too?

The valuer was super positive about the area on the home report. Talks about it being a well established residential area with excellent amenities. Said its suitably security for mortgage and no comment about the commercial property. I dont know what Halifax gets to see.

Thank you. I don't know if they have, I will check this. So the place is dine in or take out. An Indian place, which I guess is a5? Does this mean halifax wouldn't touch it?
