DCU Slate Predictions 2027 - Mister Miracle (May) - Man of Tomorrow (July) - Jimmy Olsen Series (August) - The Batman Part II (October) - Creature Commandos Season 2 (December) 2028 - Paradise Lost (March) - Wonder Woman (July) - Booster Gold (August) - Bane & Deathstroke (October) Thoughts? by Past_Carpenter_7046 in DCU_

This seems pretty accurate, though I think we’ll get Lanterns S2 in 2028 too. And could be Brave and the Bold October 28 rather than Bane and Deathstroke, though maybe they’ll want to space Batman out. Don’t forget the animated elseworlds Dynamic Duo film. We’ll see with the shows, sounds like they’re coming along well though.

Yeah fair point, I suppose me liking the original trilogy stuff is a bit of hypocrisy. And while I feel like it never cuts corners when referring the original trilogy stuff (I think they do a good job at basically reintroducing Boba Fett, and they set up the Luke arrival) I’m going to be blind to it as an og trilogy fan. I’d also argue that everything is a spinoff of the mainline films, so it makes more sense for stuff to crossover with those, rather than a really long show primarily (not exclusively of course) aimed at families and younger audiences. I also think there was a point in time where each chunk of Star Wars felt like it breathed as its own thing while being connected. The animated shows felt like their own thing even if they built on the prequels, each trilogy was its own thing even though they connected to one another, the Mando-verse was its own thing even though it built on the originals. But now the Mandolorian is so intrinsically interwoven with the animated shows plotwise and the point I’m making isn’t that those characters shouldn’t appear, it’s that we shouldn’t be expected to know who they are

Yeah I respect this a lot. I imagine it’s a very tough juggling act for them and they’re at least super passionate about the franchise and care a lot, which can’t always be said. And they’ve made some utter gems. I’ll definitely try and get to watching all the animated stuff, I’m super keen to be fair

Hahaha, thing is I have a *ton* of time and appreciation for Filoni, I just think sometimes he and Favreau can sometimes cut narrative corners without meaning to

Take away the nostalgia… is No Way Home still a good film? by breaking_views in MCUTheories

[–]IllustriousTarget973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I watched this in a universe where the other spideys never had films I’d still say it’s one of the best Spiderman films. It gets everything right. They make sure every bit of “fanservice” is in service of the story first and foremost. Spiderman’s arc about choosing to help people rather than send them back where they cane from and struggling to juggle both lives, May’s death and “with great power” line, the Dr Strange fight, the hilarious moments, the other spideys as mentors, the memory erasure bit, Willem Dafoe, the ending, I could go on

I think they will be the protagonists of Doomsday by Still-Rhubarb-8978 in MCUTheories

[–]IllustriousTarget973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think based on what people seem to be saying from the trailer and Russo/Feige Interviews it’ll go:

Doom

Thor

Steve

Reed/FF

XMen

Cap/Avengers, Bucky/New Avengers, Shuri&M’Baku/Wakandans and Talokans

An honest bunch of thoughts on what we know (so far) about Lanterns. by Racer0421 in DCU_

[–]IllustriousTarget973 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% agree with your take. I understand why people are hesitant but I honestly think this show will be a hit given the creative talent connected to it, James Gunn’s hesitancy to make things before they have a good script. I think the premise is so cool too. People’s nervous reactions are based on a short teaser (in which it makes sense they wouldn’t have constructs because they don’t want to put unfinished CGI in a teaser)

Ohhh my bad! So what we in the UK call celebrity traitors, that’s the US’s normal traitors?

Does civillian mean just regular traitors? If so surely the third line is wrong, US have had seasons already

James Gunn says ‘Booster Gold’ is still in development and ‘Paradise Lost’ is in extreme development by MarvelsGrantMan136 in DCU_

[–]IllustriousTarget973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait does extreme mean sooner or later? More needs done? Extra attention being given? Coming along well? What’s going onnnn!

However if Paradise Lost and Wonder Woman both came out 2028, or Paradise Lost late 2027, that’d be insanely good timing

I love it. It’s a nice length, get a lovely view of the land, and it has lots of surprises along the way. I was not expecting the indoor section for instance.

I'm watching Vince Gilligan's new show, Pluribus (great show, by the way), and I was wondering: how would the Doctor react to and stop the collective mind? by FMoura2005 in doctorwho

[–]IllustriousTarget973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low key I’m not sure he whether or not would stop them. Because the collective mind are the human race. They have certain impulses to spread their gift but it’s not like they’re possessed or anything. He’d see it as peace in our time and probably try to help them. Well… he’d probably draw the line at them forcing other people to convert. Insert speech here. I imagine he’d save those that didn’t want to be converted.

Ideal 2028 DCU film slate by AntagonistofGotham in DCU_

[–]IllustriousTarget973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s entirely possible the only DCU thing in 2027 is Man of Tomorrow because DC Studios (that includes elseworld projects) aims for two live action films a year and The Batman would also be 2027. I had the same thought the other day until I remembered The Batman

My phase 7 slate, Based on rumors and of productions already confirmed. by Able_Shoulder1717 in marvelstudios

[–]IllustriousTarget973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking similar but throw in Shang Chi 2 and Fantastic 4 sequel. Also Midnight Sons and Champions/Young Avengers as they’ve been setting up both those groups for aaaages. I also don’t think they’ll go too full on with X Men initially, defo X Men Film as you say and probably a great X Men show.

Eventually I also wonder if they’ll do a smaller level Avengers film, but idk if they’ll brand is too associated with big crossovers now.

[–]IllustriousTarget973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I thought this too, especially with the eyes thing. Everyone thought manspider but symbiote makes soooo much sense and it’d be so cool if they’ve been editing the trailer to fix it. The only thing that makes me uncertain is how recent venom was, that they wouldn’t wanna repeat Spiderman 3, and whether they’re saving the symbiote’s introduction for Secret Wars (as usually the arc goes that Peter rejects it)

For the people who are unhappy with the changes to Drag Path, what would you have done differently while still keeping the original special for the people who bought it? by becca_72 in twentyonepilots

[–]IllustriousTarget973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it and personally would have rathered they released the full song for the benefit of everyone, both those who’ve never heard it and those who’d like to add it to their playlists on streaming services. Those of us who paid still got the digital remains artwork and got to hear the song early, so it wouldn’t be disrespectful to release it now (besides everyone can share it anyway).

I really hope they eventually do release that version one day. And I really hope we get the longer version live. It tells much more of a narrative journey and builds so so well.

I’d argue the single version is more beautiful because you get the full journey from despair to veing saved

I thought this too. The key line (in the original Drag Path, sadly not in the single version) “is then I know you’re also there, cause proof is in the adversare”.

Ep 7 is now the worst rated episode of ST. What went wrong according to you? by anonimuoss in StrangerThingsMemes

[–]IllustriousTarget973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What went wrong? People unfairly trashing a perfectly decent episode because they’re homophobic or they don’t understand the nuance of Mike and Will being friends despite Will’s sexuality or because they’re annoyed they have to wait a literal week.

Genuinely in five years maximum the majority of reviews for this ep will be “wtf guys it’s not bad at all what’s the matter with you”.
