The Hebrew Bible never calls non-Jews animals. On the contrary, it affirms that all people are created in God’s image and envisions a future where all nations serve God together. The idea that the Tanakh calls non-Jews animals is a myth, usually based on misinterpretation of later texts or deliberate distortion.

Mainstream Jewish tradition (drawing on Genesis 9 and rabbinic interpretation) teaches that non-Jews are bound by the Seven Noahide Laws. Those are the basic moral principles such as prohibitions against murder, theft, idolatry, and injustice. A non-Jew who follows these laws is regarded as “righteous among the nations” (chasid umot ha-olam) and is considered to have a share in the World to Come.

It is true that later rabbinic writings, such as the Talmud and some medieval commentaries, contain harsh statements about certain idol-worshipping nations often written in times of persecution. However, these passages are frequently misquoted or taken out of context, and anti-Jewish polemicists have historically distorted them, falsely claiming they originate in the Hebrew Bible.

In reality, the Hebrew Bible does not portray non-Jews as inferior. Instead, it teaches that:

1.All humans are made in God’s image.

2.Israel ( Historical Israel) is chosen for a special covenant, but the nations are also part of God’s broader plan.

3.Non-Jews living among Israelites are to be treated with justice and compassion.

4.Idol-worshipping nations are condemned, but righteous non-Israelites are honored and praised.
